"You guys are going to take advantage of this pink moon, go for a run, and then kick ass?"

"Yes," they agreed, and I opened my mouth to continue but they cut me off.

"No."

"For fuck’s sake. I don’t need any of your permissions to come to aid the pack!" I whined.

"Dimitris may have been fine with you running with us, Wilting Flower," Saint reasoned, "but after that, you're on lockdown here. We can’t afford to fuck shit up tonight if we get the signal to play devil’s advocate."

"I'm not going to bring you down if that's what you're trying to imply," I pointed out.

Jayce smirked while Neo walked over to stand before me. He raised his hand to press on my cheek, something that seemed to shock the others as they held their breaths.

"We're aware, Sweetness," he calmly replied. "However, we have to be able to be ourselves. You know what that means, correct?"

I knew he was referring to our discussion in the garden. The warning of me being in the initiation stage. My cooperation was necessary until I signed onto that executive deal that would open the doors that would reveal who these four men truly were.

"Yes," I grumbled quietly, feeling like I was being lectured. Neo stroked my cheek while the others stood there looking both confused and shocked as if Neo had somehow tamed a damn lioness.

"Then you have to let us do our jobs. Dimitris secured the final negotiations for this deal to happen in three days instead of the end of the month. Once we get these hired killers out of the way, it'll be smooth sailing."

"I still have work, though," I grumbled, but lifted my head as Onyx seemed to move to stand behind me. His gaze lowered so our eyes could meet.

"Roberto activated your resignation early."

"What?" That wasn't something I was informed of. It was a good thing Onyx slipped his arms around my waist at that moment, keeping me in his grasp as he added, "It was finalized this afternoon after the whole incident and announced at the press conference regarding the safety of the De Luca legacy. The business is going to split into various locations for the next two weeks so that they'll enter the new year with a brand-new infrastructure. The building may be bombproof, but they didn't think that anyone would be coming from the roof. The glass in your office is thick but wasn't bulletproof like the business room next to your father's office. Only the windows in his office and that room were bulletproof."

"Lovely," I replied. "Then no one will come after me now that I've resigned if they're trying to kill me for the sake of hurting my father," I reasoned.

"Maybe," Onyx muttered. "We think they're targeting you on purpose."

"Why?” I asked and lowered my head to look at Neo, who replied, "You're important to whomever your father made a bad deal with for some reason. It could be an attack from the third pack in Dubai, but they haven't made a move yet, and to be brutally honest, they wouldn't waste their resources to go to such lengths to get rid of you."

"You don’t think so?" I inquired.

"Dubai wolf shifters are rich as fuck. Meaning, they don’t like flashy shit to get the job done. They're sleek, swift, and bring enough people to finish the job quickly. By the time they strike, the deed is already done and they're back to their scheduled program," Neo explained.

Jayce continued, "It has to be someone we don’t know of behind the scenes who’s trying to one-up Roberto. He seemed rather pissed off when Saint and I arrived but was asking about your whereabouts until Dimitris assured him you survived the fall."

"Papa Dearest actually cared," I huffed.

"He genuinely seemed frightened," Saint announced. "Which is out of character, correct?"

I nodded while I relaxed against Onyx, who continued to hold me.

"That man never shows interest in me. I've had my share of deaths by his very own hands and was revived by the healers when he fucked up his torture methods. He never showed a hint of sympathy then, but when I was pushed back right out the window, he called out my name," I confessed and quickly added, "That's all I can recall, but it's the first instance where he not only acknowledged me as Willow out of instinct but looked fearful that this was my end."

"They're going to use that reaction against him." Saint sighed as he pulled out his phone. He frowned and looked at the others. "Dimitris needs something."

Jayce nodded and headed to the door. "See ya outdoors in a few, Willow."

"Come naked." Saint winked and followed Jayce.

"Don’t come naked," Onyx ordered, which made me smirk and lift my head up to give him a defiant look.

"Or what?"

He lowered his gaze to look at me, black orbs of threatening darkness taking my face in.
