"We need to find Willow," Viktor stressed.
Onyx narrowed his eyes at him. "You're not telling us something."
Viktor's hesitation had us all on edge. Jayce paused in his typing frenzy to look at him. Viktor seemed to swallow the lump in his throat before he moved right past me to the table of the lounge area. He picked up a box and returned to stand in a spot that faced all of us. One hand was holding the box while the other lifted the lid off of the bubblegum pink box.
There were a bunch of folded pieces of black paper that were piled in the bright pastel box, and Viktor didn't hesitate to began reading them.
"I'm tired of living in this world of darkness." The first note he read already made my entire body tremble as the similarities of this instance made it hard to breathe.
"How long until the pain ends and the uncertainty is forgotten? I'm lost in the world of shifters. I crave to be found in this hollow darkness. Forgive me. Help me. I wish to be free from the shackles that chain me."
Sentence after sentence of notes continued to decipher words of beseeching banter, and as the notes littered the floor, a few notes sparked a hint of change in the repetitive words of desolation.
"Four forbidden knights have entered our lives. One is a sophisticated asshole who's smart and hides his kindness. One is blind, a quality I adore because it feels as though he shares the same dark world as I. One dances with his hips and can captivate my mind with his words. He's playful. One is a fighter with the wounds and scars that remind us of ours. Viktor always picks us up and is a thorn in our side that we actually still have a crush on. Onyx loved me up tonight; he must see that I'm hurting. That I'm lonely. Why does the idea of me being in a pack leave me feeling alone when they've all gone home? Can they see this side of me? Can they see who hides in the shadows while Willow is asleep?"
My eyes widened like the others as if we all realized the same thing as Viktor read the final note.
"Do they realize that her wolf is right here? I'm trapped, abandoned, and can only come out to write these bits of my forsaken loneliness. Will they realize before Willow loses herself? Will they find me before she goes through with her plan?"
He turned the note around and whispered, "Willow is going to die by her own hands. Will they find out before we're both gone from the world that never acknowledged us? What a shame..."
I saw the tears leave his eyes and run down his cheeks before he lifted his head up to acknowledge our own eyes filled with sadness and realization.
"One of the cleaners found a number of these notes in William's office. We came here to investigate, and they're hidden all over the place."
Onyx cursed then muttered, "In the places she hides her weapons?"
Viktor nodded in confirmation before his face grew serious. "We have to find Willow now...but with what just occurred...I'm not sure if she's still alive."
"It's a set-up," Neo whispered, which grabbed our attention. "Why did the cleaner go into Willow's desk today? They had to be working with someone in connection to Garfield and wished to set this up so when the news of Willow's death comes to light, they can claim it to be suicide."
"Claim it to be suicide and reveal all the harm Roberto did to Willow in her childhood, so it'll stain Roberto's name and cancel him out in trying to get the executive deal," Jayce summed up.
"Which means we have a third party that's working alongside Dubai," Saint added.
"But why?" All their attention turned to me as I continued, "Why is Willow's wolf trapped? What could stop a wolf shifter from awakening aside from being Wolf Chained?"
We were all silent before Viktor dropped the box and gasped.
"Royalty."
That caught our attention before Onyx’s eyes grew wide. "That's...that's not-"
"How could I forget this?" Viktor interrupted and paced before he pointed at Jayce. "Find Willow's location, now! She always wears a necklace of black onyx with wolf fangs on her neck. She hides it with magic because it's important to her, but there's a tracker on it. Enter the tracker base and type the code, ‘Princess Willow’."
"You put a tracker on the necklace I gave her?" Onyx asked. "That's a family heirloom!"
"I'm aware of that, fool," he snapped, and Onyx was about to say something but Neo lifted his hand to stop him.
"What did Dimitris just trigger?"
"Memories," Viktor admitted, frantically fighting not to bust out of this place. "Fuck! It makes fucking sense!"
"What?!" we demanded as he stopped in his tracks.
"Queen Elphaba Alundra Phoenix of the Pink Moon Pack! She goes by Elfie in the wolf community," he revealed before his eyes grew dark. "Elfie was together with Roberto for a period of time."
"Together as in?" I pressed.
