I pulled back to look into Onyx's eyes, which were filled with tears, and I watched them spill down his cheeks as he looked up to me.

I was unable to stop myself from slapping his bare chest as tears stained my cheeks.

"Silly bulky mass of a fucker!" I cursed. "You can’t go following me to the land of the dead!"

He chuckled then as his eyes softened and he showed me such vulnerability that I was on the verge of sobbing.

"Sweet Sugar," he whispered. "You thought I'd let you abandon me in that shit hole called life?" I couldn’t hold out any more as I began to sob, and he pulled me against him as he continued. "Without you, Willow, I'm nothing but a dead tree. You are the pink petals that blossom upon every branch of my existence, making me feel alive and free, and if such a feeling has to be experienced in the land of the dead, so be it. For as long as I have you in my life."

I pulled back just to kiss him long and hard, and it felt as if the world around us began to fade. He broke the kiss as fear began to swarm my eyes, but he held me tightly.

"You're not alone anymore," he whispered. "Do not fear. Wherever you wake up, I promise to find you...and love you."

I nodded and pressed my forehead against his, the petals of red, purple, pink, and black wrapping around us as the world became flooded with white light.

"I love you, too," I vowed as the light engulfed us.

Before I could lose consciousness, Mother Moon's tender voice followed me into the warmth of the light.

"Survive the final trial and sit upon the throne I've laid out for you and your Forbidden Pack, Willow. There, you will unveil the truth to your destiny and begin on the path many have wished for you to not walk upon. Remember your worth and the power I've blessed upon you."

As I faded into the comforting warmth, all I could do was smile as my consciousness left me.

"Farewell, my Awakened Child of the Forbidden Pink Moon."

I was reborn through the rays of light that brought life into me, and I could not feel more thankful for a second shot at life.

Thank you, Mother Moon.

Wolf Awakened

When it wasmy turn to be next to dive into the waters, I sensed I wasn’t alone. My sight that had been awakened by the flow of my magic that I encouraged to give me temporary vision picked up on the blazing energy in the forest.

It was too late now as I was already cruising further into the waters that grew darker and darker the deeper I dove down. My wolf was ready to assist me, our motive to grab both Willow and Onyx from the depths of this hidden lagoon.

I wasn’t sure if what he’d committed to had been successful, but I wouldn't know until I could bring them back up and surge their hearts back to life. This whole plan was instinctive mayhem, decisions being made without reason but by following our guts.

Regardless, I now understood why Onyx accepted me so easily, and I was sure it was the reason why I didn't kill him the first night I met him when he was on the verge of killing Saint.

Saving Willow would unlock so many secrets that I'd fought hard to keep hidden, and yet I didn’t give a damn because I didn’t see our pack surviving without her.

We'd gotten a glimpse of her fierce glory and it had become an addictive drug that left us all in shambles with her heroic exit after she helped us avoid the trap stationed at our temporary house.

This woman underhandedly tricked all of us into thinking she'd be the victim of the circumstances laid out for her, only to turn around and save us from the clutches of our newfound enemies before getting rid of the remaining forces that pretended to be our allies.

She saved us all selflessly while being the human she despised so much, only to walk off this cliff when the brink of death finally got its clutches into her.

It wasn’t long before I caught a glimpse of silver hair, and soon I saw Willow and Onyx, his arms around her though they both seemed almost frozen in the drifting beauty of the lagoon waters that were tainted with their blood.

The sight was beyond beautiful, words unable to express the agonizing exquisiteness that this live image portrayed to me. My fingers tingled desperately to take a brush and paint every bit of detail of this sorrowful memory.

I pushed my urges aside and focused on our priority, and when one of my hands landed on Onyx and the other on Willow, I tried to stop them from drifting downward.

Their bodies were triple their weight, and it took me a moment to gather as much of my magic as I could to try and cancel out the gravity around us as we began to float upward. We were not even two-thirds of the way when I began struggling. My instincts told me they had to stay in connection with one another, which left me no choice but to fight harder to pull them both upward.

I was on the verge of giving up when something grabbed me around my waist, like a band of some sort, and I was tugged upward, which forced me to look up and see a massive wolf aiding me on my mission.
