I almost lost consciousness at the peak of it all, but a combined force held me up from losing the battle I seemed to be enduring with myself.

When my eyes suddenly opened, the vision before me was magnificently clear, even in the darkness that aimed to hide our surroundings. I was on all fours, but everything else was different - from the extraordinary vision to the elevated sense of smell that tickled my nostrils.

Warmth flooded me while the place that surely was my chest seemed to be bathed in extra warmth as the pain lessened with haste.

When the pain seemed to be gone, I looked to the ground to see the white hairs of fur that had the tiniest hint of fine pink fibers in the soft coat that reflected against the moon's rays.

A chuckle of pride and exhaustion drifted onto the passing wind and my attention was on the sole man before me: Dimitris, who stood there with prideful eyes.

My height reached his shoulders and I instinctively narrowed my eyes at him with the intention of attacking him due to our previous confrontation, but that was when the funnel of emotions flooded between us, and I could suddenly feel what I'd always craved.

A pack bond.

I felt the sensation of other wolves, but it was pretty muted, except for two that pulsed with relief. I focused my attention on the strongest one. The one that I could envision flowing with streams of bubblegum pink and that was left wide open for me to feel.

To grasp the heartache he carries for what he did back there. For the regret that he harbors in his heart for rejecting me and not fighting the controlling force that possessed him.

He'd somehow found me first, which left me to wonder how and even why he decided to aid me in becoming what I'd always desired, and the realization that he was the reason why I was here, as a wolf, seemed to do the opposite of making me happy.

I'm angry, but it shouldn't be directed at him...

He lifted his hands up, but that taunting smirk was still present on those sexy lips of his, all while he stood there - naked and hard at the mere sight of me. I wondered what could possibly be going through his mind right now, but at the same time, maybe my wolf awakening finalized the bond with him, the Wolf Alpha of our pack, and left him beyond happy even though he was trying hard to not show it.

"Finally. Our sweet forbidden fruit is ripe and ready for us to pleasantly enjoy."

A rumble left me that morphed into a low growl, but it only made him chuckle.

"I'm not your enemy, Will, or should I say Willow?" he inquired, which he was clearly doing on purpose to taunt me further.

I lowered in preparation to attack him if he didn't dare lower that sick pride of his.

"Willow, my sweet." The way his seductive voice said those very words had me tingling from the inside out as my body burned to be beneath him and fucked.

I shook my head wildly at the thought, and that left him chuckling before he was standing before me in one swift movement. I should have bitten him, but his hand was suddenly stroking my cheek, and soon I was lowering my head as he knelt down to one knee and pressed his forehead against mine.

I still hated his guts. Still despised that he jumped to conclusions and was easily controlled by that weak hybrid of a fae, which led me down that cascading staircase of betrayal, rejection, and death. But then again, he'd somehow found me in this place, and he'd united me with the others.

Not as an outsider, enemy, or human, but reintroduced me as a pack member. One that everyone will have to acknowledge when we rise up to take that executive throne and reveal the truth hidden from us all.

"Forbidden Willow, don’t push me away. I may be your enemy during the day, but right here, right now, I'm the next best thing to salvation," he growled soothingly. "Embrace this, Willow. Dwell in the blissful moment of being Wolf Awakened. Whatever held you back has lost its battle, and now?"

He leaned back just so I'd lift my head and look into his deadly eyes.

"Now we wage war on all who dare defy us."

The joy of his dangerous motivation somehow sparked new life into me, and all I could do was lift my head and howl, for I was now bonded to a pack of enemies that left excitement in their wake instead of fright.

The shuffling of the bushes grasped our attention, and soon enough there were Onyx and Neo, the two of them covered in blood that smelled like my own, and drenched in sweat and water as they took in Dimitris and my new self.

I felt the urge to shift back, and suddenly I did, leaving Dimitris no choice but to pull back and give me space until I was on my knees and gasping for breath. Lifting my head up once more, I was on my hands and knees, naked, and my eyes locked onto Onyx and Neo, only for the three of us to hiss.

They lifted their hands up, each one holding the other, as if they'd been bitten on the back of their hands, while I sat back on my knees to endure the burning sensation happening on both of my hands.

I was rendered speechless until the burning calmed and I was staring in bewilderment at the backs of my palms that now had circle markings on them that made no fucking sense to me.

The shuffling sound of leaves grasped my attention momentarily as Saint, Jayce, and Viktor rushed into the clearing. One look at us had them freezing in place before I was tugged to return my gaze to Onyx and Neo, who were staring at me with wild eyes.

That was when I sensed the two foreign funnels of emotions - tunnels that intertwined and hit me like a wall of bricks that was separated from the pack funnel of Dimitris's emotions.
