Let alone an heir of that grand pack.

As I finished tidying my desk until it was absolutely spotless, my eyes lazily moved to view the time.Ten minutes...

The door opened on its own accord, something that didn’t even trigger a reaction as I loosened my tie instead. Two 6'7" men waltzed into the room, their guns on show and their expressionless faces attempting to strike fear into me.

As if I'd be afraid of these fools.

They had to be new cause I hadn't seen them before, but I already knew how to disarm them in five seconds flat - two if I really didn't have the patience.

I decided to focus my attention front and center, and in waltzed Papa Dearest.

As usual, I noticed how much taller than him I was in this male persona. His black hair was pulled back into a short ponytail, which told me he had to do real business today. It wasn’t in its casual messy excuse of a hairdo for the sake of being present in this building.

He was even in different clothes, sporting a black golf shirt and casual black jeans.

Guess his suit is at the dry cleaners. Wonder which asshole got it stained with blood today.

I swore the scowl on his face had to be permanent or something because it was always there and either deepened when he got even angrier or formed into a blank stare when he was questioning one's intelligence.

Didn't blame him there. Far too many stupid people in this world.

His eyes were gold, which told me his wolf was still riding up his ass.

Ugh. I don't want to deal with that dick today.

The black Rolex watch with diamonds stood out like a sore thumb, but I noticed the slight bruise on his left arm that made me arch an eyebrow.

He raised his right hand to snap his fingers. The guards closed the door and remained to the sides of the door.

"Do you always have to make a grand entrance when you arrive?" I earnestly asked with a dissatisfied expression. "Who fucked up your Monday?"

"Doesn't matter," he grunted. "They're dead."

"Tough luck," I replied and pulled out my tie, allowing the thin fabric to rest along my collar. "I'm leaving early so make this quick."

The way he looked at me with a pinch of seething anger made me actually smile, which was pretty stupid of me, but I was a cocky piece of shit as a guy and we both knew it.

He even approved of it.

"Duty calls. We're no different when it comes to being tardy," I began. "Which makes me wonder why Viktor is late today?"

"I needed him for something."

"You realize my instincts are decent enough to know when you're lying, right?" I acknowledged, hoping he'd finally remember that minor detail. I could keep up with his wolf's speed if I pushed myself hard enough and I could smell just as well as him.

Pushing my chair back, I rested my right ankle on my knee while I put my hands up and behind my head.

"There are only two reasons why you’d show up here. Either I need to kill someone or you're warning me about not fucking something up that may benefit you."

When he didn't answer, I rolled my eyes. "Second one. Are you going to let my dad come out to speak or are you just going to continue to inspect me as if I've suddenly unlocked whatever is chaining me, keeping me a weak human?"

"Your scent is different," he muttered quietly.

Here we go again.

"You've been saying that for the last two weeks. If you're going to compare me to mother, simply state it. Fucking grinds my gears whenever you say shit and realize I don't look or smell like her. Plus, I look more like you, which annoys me to the core."

"Hmph," he muttered. "Bitch."
