"Didn't take his gun?" Viktor asked in amusement, clearly understanding my desire to let Papa Dearest hear with his own ears.

"The safety was on," I concluded with a shrug. "He'd be dead before he flicked that shit and aimed. Did him a favor."

"You're learning well," he concluded. "Ready to go?"

I turned around to look at my father, who was wearing a blank face on purpose due to Viktor's appearance and the wide doors that would leak any information if he lost his cool. During the day, he had no choice but to pretend to be a kind man, one who was peaceful and not as sinister as we all knew him to me.

The sick bastard would do anything to cripple me.

Walking up to him, I got right up close and looked down as his deadly eyes stared up at me and bled to gold.

"You know I could destroy you," he seethed quietly, as if I wouldn't be able to grasp that fact.

"You did already, remember?" I reasoned, lowering until our noses were centimeters apart. "Broke me down and pushed me off that ledge of insanity.” His eyes moved to notice my hand, a gun already in my possession as I purposely pressed it to my right temple.

"Say the word, Papa Dearest. I'd be honored to die right here and now. Would that make you proud of me? Make me worthy of your time and attention? Or would that fuck up everything you've built until it crumbled into nothing but ashes?!" I seethed the last part back, allowing a glimpse of the treacherous rage I fought hard to leave in its closed box of emotions.

He said nothing, his wolf pulling back entirely as he gulped.

His wolf tried to push me, and he most certainly could. Only I'd make sure he knew where he stood in this powerplay of father and son.

Let him realize that without me, he'd be fucked on so many levels.

"Let me remind you," I whispered, fighting the urge to pull the damn trigger - enough to make it shake in my hand. "I'm doing you a favor. Not the other way around. I may be a useless human who doesn't belong anywhere near you, but your cynical blood runs in my veins and anyone who's gotten a glimpse of your power would know how lethal I can be without even trying."

Pulling away, I allowed the gun to disappear, the magic trick Aurelia taught me being the best spell I've learned since maintaining my male appearance.

"I can make you work longer," he muttered.

"Oh please don't," I dramatically declared. "I can walk out of this place as a girl and allow all of NYC to speculate who I am. If you think I play to the tune of being your model boy during the day for shits and giggles, I don't." He clearly needed a reminder. "Next time you're going to threaten me, make sure it ain't going to backfire and leave a far bigger wound on you than me. Between the two of us, I can walk away from it all. You, on the other hand, can't."

Turning around, I ruffled my hair so it had a wilder edge before unbuttoning three buttons of my dress shirt to give off a rough look that emphasized my dominating characteristics before I tugged on the pink fabric of my tie and tossed it to Viktor, who’d already gotten the message that I was far to riled to wear my suit and tie.

"I'll give the cameras a show so they know I worked extra hard today and sealed that deal with Dubai and China regarding the stock exchange. All you have to do is sign the paperwork," I announced as I looked back at him. "I'm sure Viktor already reviewed the documents to make sure I didn't fuck anything up, but triple check."

Turning around, I slid my hands in my pockets.

"As for your advice, I got it. Stay away and be a good son. For the sake of continuing my eight-hour bullshit, I'll compromise,” I announced. "Have a splendid evening, Papa."

With that, I walked past Viktor. "Make sure this shit is cleaned up."

"Already in the works," he declared as he followed my long strides. The elevator dinged and there five men in black suits walked out and gave us head bows in acknowledgment.

Four of them were already in my office as the last one held the elevator door for us. The security man remained inside, awaiting us.

We acknowledged him before entering the golden box, and the doors began to close as my sensitive hearing caught his chilling words.

"Kill both of them."

"Yes, Sir!"

The doors came to a close, muting the gunshots that surely followed.

"Long day?"

"Very," I declared and pinched my nose.

That made Viktor look at me a certain way, but I dismissed it with a wave of my hand for him to not worry. Dealing with that man always gave me headaches, but at least I came out on top this time around.
