Page 67 of Wolf Awakened

As we continued to dance to what had to be the fifth song change, I could feel the lurking beings observing our movements. That fact made the sly grin of my wolf threaten to bleed onto my own lips.

I sensed the slight tension that flickered through this woman who'd captured my attention long enough to pique my interest, but she didn't know that I knew who she really was.

That I know of her encounter with my Dimitris at the beginning of the week.

I knew about how her male persona somehow riled Dimitris up. The unexpected fame immediately caught the attention of both good and bad influences, but it looked like it was a blessing in disguise because people beneath the buzz knew who we were in California and were now eager to help us settle into the heart of NYC.

The city run by the very De Lucas.

I wondered if this woman would be enjoying this dance if she knew who I really was. If she understood that I stood with wolf brothers who were here to fuck up the structure of her father's business.

Of the legacy she...or he...is supposed to rise and claim.

I wasn't sure what her status was with her father, but I was damn curious, seeing as her female status seemed to be something brushed under the rug while her powerful male ego hit the trending page every week.

My gut told me she was different than what we expected, and though it was rather clear she's not a wolf, I sensed power thrumming through her body.

The fact she sensed the beings slowly creeping towards us told me her senses were as close to a wolf as they could be. Why was she a mere human with heightened abilities?

What's blocking that mystical Alpha from launching forward through that invisible barrier and revealing the hidden truth?

As the song came to the final verses, I knew it was time to wrap things up. I was sure she sensed it, so I twirled her around until my arm was hooked around her waist and she was pressed against me.

I was really begging for death by doing this, but now that I’d gotten a glimpse of her right up close, I regretted absolutely nothing.

This woman was a gem to appreciate from a distance, but up close, she was far more than that. She was a beauty, from her teal eyes that sparkled like diamonds to the striking strands of barbie pink hair with the touch of white that multiplied, glowing slightly when the lights hit the perfect angle.

Her plump lips carried a very fierce expression without trying. From the twitch of my cock and the way my wolf walked slowly out of the shadows of his dark nest, I knew we'd caught a rare butterfly that would be wonderful to have on display.

I’d love to have her walk by our side. To enjoy her scent and tempting lips.

To watch her writhe beneath me as I fucked her into oblivion.

I could imagine all the positions I'd put her in as our eyes locked for a lengthy moment. Bolts of lust charged between us, leaving it hard for me to be the one to end this moment.

"It was fun, Saint, but I have to make my grand exit," she announced as though the clock had struck twelve and the spell upon her would come undone at any moment.

I couldn't help but pout, a trait of mine I couldn't seem to fix. My bros always said I was easy to read, but I allowed it when I was around them.

Somehow, this woman made me slip up when I've just met her.Her giggle was like music to my soul as she leaned in closer, making my heart skip a few beats. "Remember my name and maybe we'll play this game again," she assured me before pulling away.

"Does that mean I can't have your number?" I taunted as if it were even possible for her to be mine. I was hoping to see the man who marked her with his scent - just to study my chance.

She turned around to give me a final look while her orbs quickly inspected the area behind me.

"This flower is a smart one. Perceptive of what's around her. Dangerous."

My wolf pitching into the conversation was bad news. That meant he found someone of interest and now would hunt her down until she was ours for the taking.

Yup. I fucked up coming here.

Dimitris had wanted Jayce to come, but knowing his temper, he would have been lucky to get through the security. As for Neo, his disability would be a disadvantage amongst these judgemental freaks. Dimitris didn't do parties unless forced, and even then, he only went with one of us.

That left me for the grand position of partygoer, but never would I have expected someone to grasp my wolf's attention.

Never.

"You already have my scent," she reasoned while giving me a bold look as she winked. "Have fun tonight, and hope to bump into you again if you survive."
