"He did," Viktor declared. "However, another one of their crew interfered.”

"Oh?" That had my attention as he nodded.

"Neo Rodriguez, though I don't think that's his last name."

"It's not?" I wasn't necessarily surprised. Everyone loved to use some sort of alias to get by in life. I merely didn't because my surname benefited me more than I liked to acknowledge.

"Some documents suggest his name is Neo Rose. He also apparently has an older brother, but there's something fishy with that."

"Which is?"

"His older brother isn't a wolf and doesn't live in these parts at all."

"So he's human?"

"Wizard. Powerful, it seems. I tried to look into it further but I don't have access. Looks like he's a part of some sort of elite force or organization that's specifically for elite wizards and witches. It didn't look like he'd be any advantage seeing as I'm unsure he even knows of his younger brother's existence."

"Would be pointless to bring him into this messy situation. Also don't want to bite off more than we can chew," I reasoned. "Were you able to find anything unique about this guy?"

"Not yet. Everything is encrypted and personal information seems to be encoded. All I know is that Onyx backed down because he sensed him. That should be enough to tell you he isn't one we should play around with."

"Scary," I muttered. "The others? What about Saint Alexander?"

"Same age as you. Looks to be from a very religious type of wolf pack. They have roots in and a connection to the Vatican, and with their heritage, wealth isn't a problem. No info as to why he pulled out."

"Alright. Who's the fourth member?"

"Jayce Allister. He seems to be the most mysterious in terms of what makes him unique enough to be around these guys, but he's well known in California for his knowledge of cars. He solely owns the majority of dealerships in all of America. If you want a rare car that's hard to find, he'll get it for you. In some scenarios, he makes them himself."

"Oh." I grinned in excitement, which made Viktor sigh.

"He's your enemy. Don't go asking for shit."

"Sure, sure," I brushed off that minor detail. "Nothing else?"

"Looks like he has anger issues? Lots of triggers. Takes meds or some shit. His wolf is extremely dangerous. No one can control him from what the records state. He's had a few hospital stays in the past, but details are blocked out."

"So...Neo, the mysterious wolf who may potentially be a wizard hybrid, Saint, who's all religious, wealthy, and a risk-taker, Jayce, with connections and who is extremely good with cars, and finally, Dimitris."

"Dimitris Moore. They call him the ‘business prodigy’ in Cali. He gets any deal he wants, and has connections to some of the biggest corporations, hotels, and mineral industries in the world. Very calculating and obviously looks to be the leader of the pack. He's into fashion and does modeling once in a while for organizations willing to give them their loyalty. Even with them being here, they still run California. No one will defy them, and they have smaller packs and organizations in the mafia that will deliver a reminder to anyone who thinks they can overtake them while they're here for business," he explained. "A few of Roberto's enemies are extremely intrigued and I'm sure are waiting to take the opportunity to connect with him so they can get some sort of revenge."

"Don't blame them," I confessed and leaned into my chair as I lifted my leg so my right ankle was resting on my left knee. "This is going to get problematic, but I can’t help but wonder where the hell I fall in this brewing scenario."

"They may want to use you?" he suggested.

"You're not wrong, but I feel they know I'm not a weak bitch."

"Bastard," he corrected, which made me smirk. "I agree with you, but are you willing to betray Roberto?"

"I'm not sure," I admitted. "The opportunity is grand, but not everything that glitters is gold. I can see why people are hesitant: it's far too early to know what their true motives are. They may be the surface-level problem to something brewing beneath, and let's be realistic. Dad has far too many enemies to keep track of. Someone from twenty years ago could come out of the woodwork and use this opportunity as the perfect distraction while they do shit under our noses."

I paused to look at the time, noticing that it was only a few minutes before we got to leave for the day.

"I personally don't care where we stand with Roberto. He has no control over me, and to be honest, he needs me to run shit in the background or his empire will collapse. He can't handle balancing everything like he could before, and that doesn't account for whatever he's dealing with in the realms of the wolf world. He knows between the two of us, your loyalty has switched to me. Not to mention Onyx and the connection with the Clementines. He'd never admit it to our faces, but I've somehow gathered a force that can not only prevail against whatever downfall is approaching, but I'll also be able to recover and rise up quicker," I explained. "What worries me is the purpose of why the Forbidden pack is here. They didn't just wake up one morning and say they're going to take over NYC. There has to be a purpose, and that's either someone higher up is wishing for Roberto's downfall so they can creep in and take over, or Roberto crossed a line he never should have and they're here for blood."

"Looks like we're going to be busy this fall," Viktor declared and rose up. "Someone's at the door."

I frowned. "Do we actually have a meeting now?"
