“Bad.”
A grunt left me as a punch hit the side of my rib, followed by something hitting my temple far too hard. It forced the entity to take a step back, giving me the chance to pull myself into control. I was left breathing hard as I cursed at the pounding on the right side of my head.
“Willow.” I groaned and looked up to see the wild smile on Willow’s face while her eyes twinkled with mischief. “Willa,” I corrected.
“Possessed Bulky Fucker,”she sang happily before she was behind me and literally climbing my back.
“Willa?!” I didn’t understand what she was doing, but her arms were around my neck as her legs wrapped around my waist.
“Piggyback adventure!” she cheered and pointed in a random direction which was to our right.
“At least she’s able to snap you back out of it,” Neo noted as he turned around to confront me. “And that’s why I need you to talk to Dimitris about that.”
“It’s never happened like that before,” I explained in hopes of brushing it off. “Plus, we have far more important things to worry about. I can’t pile my bullshit onto the platter of mayhem.”
“Just because it happened once doesn’t mean it isn’t going to happen again, Onyx,” Neo stressed as he lifted his hand to brush away the stream of blood from the wound I’d given him. My stomach flipped in unease as I understood my actions could have had deadlier consequences if Neo didn’t carry the level of control he did.
Or if I’d triggered Nico, for that matter.
“Hurt!”Willa declared as she eyed Neo’s fingers that were cloaked with his blood.“Saint not here…”
She sounded far too sad at the reminder, enough that Neo walked over to us and reached out his other hand to press it against her cheek.
“Saint’s okay. He just needs loads of rest to heal. He used a lot of energy to prove to the rest of the world that we’re not playing around,” he explained as his eyes softened. “We’re tired of people hurting what’s ours, Willa. You know you’re ours, right?”
“Yes!”she cheered with so much pride.“Yours!”
“Then you don’t need to worry about your Playboy Mate Saint,” Neo comforted with the added lighthearted nickname.
“And you?”She said the words softly, which made Neo chuckle before he smiled right back at her.
“All healed,” Neo assured her as he tilted his head up to show the sliced skin from my conjured blade was completely healed. “See?”
“Healed!”She could barely stay on my back as she tightened her leg hold so she could use her hands to clap as if Neo had done a magic trick.“All better? No fighting?”
Oh…fuck.
She thought we were fighting. I hadn’t even grasped what my actions would have looked like to Willa, who must have come back from wherever she was at the scent of Neo’s blood.
“Nope. We ain’t fighting,” Neo reassured her. “Onyx wanted to show me a new trick but I made him flinch. He’s frightened of my other side, Nico.”
Lying piece of shit, I tossed directly to him. It was my first time trying the mental move, but it was clearly received as Neo’s laughter haunted the inner walls of my subconscious.
Willa was off my back and skipping around Neo while giggling.
“Possessive Bulky Stalker of a Fucker is scared of Nico! Scaredy cat! Scaredy cat!”
It was such a mind fuck to see Willow’s body skipping and her singing in such an eerie minor way and yet knowing it wasn’t my Sugar. There was nothing wrong with it, obviously, but it really was a sight to see and save into my memory banks.
“Bye!”
We both expected Willow to drop after Willa’s departure, which was why we both reached forward to catch her, but our outstretched arms remained empty as the expected weight of our mate remained absent for five long seconds.
“Oh shit. Where did she go?” Surely Willa just had some way of hiding her aura which made it a pain to track her quickly, but Neo didn’t seem to struggle the way I did.
“She’s at that same place as before,” Neo noted. “I think we should go there. If she keeps going back there, clearly there’s a meaning to it.”
“Like how she went and found the blood rose,” I commented while straightening my back.
