“Right,” Milo commented. “Strong hunch that the Vile Queen stole fae magic from a higher rank fae back in the day when she used to experiment on you on Coven property. It’s the only possibility as to why your alter-ego Willa was able to tap in and enter Faerie without the presence and permission of another fae.”

“Well shit,” Willow muttered, “I don’t think I can handle any more boyfriends. I’ve got enough cock.”

We ended up chuckling at that before Milo wrapped an arm around Willow’s waist to pull her close. “So no more tentacle sex?”

“I didn’t say that,” she immediately argued as she pointed right into his face. “Leave my hentai fantasies out of this.”

“Never hurts to ask,” Milo teased. “You’re gonna need to lie down in five seconds.”

“I don’t need to lie down.” Willow scrunched her face in disapproval. “I feel perfectly f…”

And she was down.

“I’ve got you,” Milo quietly assured her the moment her eyes rolled back and her weight dropped into his grasp. “Before any of you ask, entering Faerie is extremely taxing on the magic side. Seeing as she’s using fae magic she really hasn’t tapped into, she’s going to be out for a bit.”

“Will she wake up before the runway?” Dimitris asked while I was already moving to reach my sleeping Sugar. She looked completely drained, which was unsettling. This runway was a big deal, but fuck, the timing was just awful.

“She will be with a bit of a boost. I’ll ask for Viktor’s assistance with this so we can refill her fae and magic wells. Her wolf side is okay, and aside from her being utterly exhausted, she isn’t wounded.”

“This is a lot.” Neo sounded mad. “All this madness in such a short period of time.”

“On purpose, obviously,” Dimitris muttered. “They want her to break.”

“I think it's more than that,” Milo whispered as his eyes lingered on Willow. “Someone doesn’t want her on this runway. Not simply because she’s reclaiming her birthright.”

“You’re hinting at this apparent fae mate?” I offered as I crouched down and very gently brushed my hand against Willow’s cheek. Just touching her eased me immensely, especially the dark energy that wished to make another debut.

“It’s a serious ordeal, Onyx.” Milo’s voice was deadpan as his eyes went pure black. “If Willow carries enough of this other individual’s energy, that means their bond was made by force, not by our fae gods or goddesses, which is a big fucking deal. We hate anything tampering with what is destined for us, and it can be enough to trigger a war between the fae and potentially the Coven.”

“Doesn’t that benefit us?” Neo voiced the obvious. “The Coven is clearly becoming everyone’s enemy.

“You’re right,” Milo noted. “But that still indirectly hurts Willow.”

“Aurelia,” I muttered with a sigh. “She was forced into the Coven, though.”

“Yet she accepted to remain for the sake of her men, right?” Milo countered. “She has to protect those she loves, just as we have to protect the woman we cherish. At the end of the day, when the strike of judgment comes at the hands of the fae, no one’s circumstances will matter unless Aurelia has connections with another Fae or gains immunity like Willow’s about to be given.”

“Shit…This is going to turn bloody, isn’t it?” I concluded and felt sick to my stomach at the idea of Aurelia being pulled into this. She’d made her bed by letting go of Willow, but I didn’t want her to lie in it and suffer the consequences of her decisions.

She had every right to protect her lovers, but was it worth being sentenced to death because the organization she was forced into did something beneath everyone’s noses?

“Do you fear this male fae is going to be a bad influence on Willow?” Dimitris asked Milo.

“I don’t necessarily think he’ll be a bad influence,” Milo confessed. “We’ll know it's him because it’ll be like instant love at first sight. Similar to how destined mates are struck with a whiplash of their mate's energy and know that the individual they’re staring at is their fated one. Seeing as this fae energy has generally been dormant in Willow for what, fourteen to fifteen years? That means the energy isn’t rejecting Willow as a fated mate. In fact, from what we witnessed now, it approves of her arrival.”

“Is that why the blood roses filled that entire field?” I inquired.

“Sort of. Fast signs of growth in plants and expansion prove the fae magic running through her is most definitely light fae. Willow was the one to find the blood rose in the first place, correct?”

“Yes. It was when Saint was taking her home from a club night and they were ambushed by witches,” Neo elaborated.

“The blood roses thrive off of Willow’s energy since they deem her as their new owner. They also have the opposite effect of killing, which again proves her fae magic can flip the negative effects of something into a positive.”

“Meaning those specific blood roses can’t kill,” Dimitris determined. “That’s why you’re encouraging Arthur to make Willow’s designs.”

Milo firmly nodded before he slowly worked on lifting Willow up.

“Faerie is powerful not simply because of the endless cycle of magic it holds,” Milo emphasized. “It’s a world that brings out the strongest qualities in each of us. Almost like awakening our highest selves. What you all saw was a reflection of the power you truly carry.”
