I held off answering as I crossed my arms over my chest.
If you want my honest “I don’t give a fuck response,” well, I really don’t want to deal with any of that right now.
“Had enough, huh,”he acknowledged, and yet we were on the same wavelength when it came to our emotional capacities surpassing their limits.
As Willow, I felt an obligation to react when it came to anything revolving around Aurelia, but as William, it felt like that switch was turned off.

"Worrying about the truth isn’t going to change the fact many things were hidden from us.” I spoke the words out loud as I stared at the black curtain before me. “Once this is over with and our celebrations are done, I’ll speak with Aura privately and see what her game plan is. She’s a queen of Faerie, so no way can she stay here for long, but she’s also my fated mate thanks to the manipulative bitch of a Vile Queen who fucked her destiny up by using her magic to experiment on me. I may remember certain aspects, but I’m not delving into that right now.”
“You don’t want the distraction.”
“We don’t need any more disturbances,” I emphasized. “I’m done with surprises. Done with questioning why ABCD is happening. I’m fucking over all that bullshit that’s desperate to make me cave. This arc of second-guessing myself is over, and we’re entering the phase where I’ll confront shit with my actions like a fighter ready to fuck shit up in the heart of the ring.”
“That’s more our tune.”Bria seemed immensely pleased.“Leave our enemies quaking.”

Uncrossing my arms, I slid them into my pockets even as I heard the approaching footsteps coming from behind me.
I remained completely relaxed, despite not knowing who was approaching me, but I wasn’t expecting the voice that came from my right.
"It’s been a while since I’ve spoken to you in this form.”
I genuinely needed a moment to react, and when I slowly glanced over, there was the man I didn’t expect to confront right before the show.
“Switch,” Roberto ordered, which only had me arching an eyebrow in question. "I wish to speak to my daughter.”
I swore I was being far too cocky, rolling my eyes at Papa Dearest, but I guessed he was in a good mood because he didn’t try to shoot me by accident because of my ego.
With a blink, I now stood in a pink dress with black sparkles—my outfit for intermission. My hair was long and curled as it loosely rested past my shoulders, while my outfit was matched with limited edition pink champagne sparkle Christian Louboutins.
I’d have to change back to my first attire later, but decided the softer look would be less threatening.
“Should I even ask what possessed my papa dearest to not only defend me around the shifter community earlier but now grace me with his presence before this life-changing experience?” I spoke while looking forward.
I didn’t want to seem like a bitch, and yet I felt like I needed to defend myself in a way.
He was observing me carefully, his gaze as heavy as his presence. He looked forward, staring at the black curtain with me as if we were witnessing some sort of invisible artwork that was plastered upon this dark surface.
“Did any of my pack members bother you while I was gone?” The question was random as fuck.
“If you don’t get rid of Beta Bitch, you’re probably gonna find yourself in a coffin.” I huffed. “She’s working for the Vile Queen, and yet I feel like you know that.”
“I’m aware of her double-sidedness.”
“Yet she’s the fucking Beta of your pack,” I stressed. “What if you died? Your legacy in that pack would go up in shambles while you give the Vile Queen enough ammunition for her zombie warrior fleet to fuck this city up.”
“As if you’d allow such,” he grumbled mostly to himself, but it made me laugh.
“Your sudden belief in me is almost insulting.”
I really wasn’t sure where all this anger was stemming from—or boldness, as a matter of fact—but I wasn’t going to stop myself from being honest.
"I’ve always believed in you,” he stated as if it were no secret.
