WHAT THE VILE QUEEN TRULY WANTED

~LOKI~

"She’sgonna reach her breaking point…”

I opened my eyes just slightly, my arms crossed while I continued to lean against the wall of the bedroom — blending with the shadows. It was the only way I knew how to control my roaring emotions that were desperate to be free — to wreak havoc against those who dared hurt what was ours.

Onyx was right next to me, same position and all, which really made us look like identical twins because we wore the same unamused expression and our matching auras were barely contained.

The only real difference was our attire; mine remained white while Onyx wore black. The two of us were still in our dress shirts and formal pants from our grand outfits.

There was nothing really grand happening now that Roberto De Luca was dead…

"She long passed her breaking point,” Onyx muttered and I had to agree. I may not have known Willow as long as he had, but anyone could agree that Willow had long past her breaking point.

Now she was drowning in the agony of loss when she should be celebrating a victory against the enemy.

This wasn’t what the Vile Queen wanted. She didn’t want Willow to claim her birthright. But the longer I took to analyze the situation, the more I wondered if we’d missed her true intentions.

What she truly wanted to happen…

"Is she going to be okay, Milo?”

My eyes slowly moved along to the only awake woman in the room — Queen Auraleia Delianne Clementine.

Her arrival was completely unexpected, just like the bond her entrance created — proving that treason was committed against her and Willow.

The fact that the Vile Queen had gone so far to alter her destiny only made me hate her more. She wanted to be the ultimate decision-maker, a goddess that everyone would bow to in order to survive another day that most definitely wouldn’t guarantee freedom.

“I’m gonna force her to sleep a full day,” Milo announced, which drew our attention to him as he rose from his knees after being at the side of Willow’s bed for what seemed to be an hour and a half.

“How bad is her mental state?” Onyx immediately asked.

I was sure that was a priority, especially when Willow had tried to commit suicide in the past. I bet she didn’t want that lingering over her head for the rest of her life, but in crucial times like this, we had to ensure every precaution was made to keep her safe.

Even if it’s from herself.

"She’s not suicidal,” Milo got to the point. “Could that change? Of course, but she doesn’t have the true intention of killing herself. Has she pondered about it? Yes. However, she’s carrying a lot of guilt right now. Guilt and a shit ton of anger.”

Milo sighed as he tugged the hair tie that kept his black locks up. He wasn’t in his royal form anymore but his hair was still as long as ever — those black strands cascading down to the back of his neck while he unbuttoned the collar of his golden silk dress shirt.

"Her magic is dangerously high which is why I’m forcing her to sleep. If it gets any higher, we’ll face bigger consequences than we want to deal with.”

“As in?” Onyx decided to ask.

"Weather problems.” Surprisingly, Milo and Aura said those words at the same time, which had them exchanging looks before they both glanced our way.

“Fae aren’t good to anger in the mundane world,” Aura stressed. "If our magic gets out of control, natural disasters happen far more frequently.”

“In Willow’s case, her Fae magic may be weaker, but right now, it’s at peak level and supported by the other channels of magic rushing through her in boiling rage. They need an outlet and won’t hesitate to chip on the Fae magic to get it.”

“Shit,” I muttered. "Has she triggered anything?”

“There was a warning of severe thunderstorms with the chance of a tornado before I arrived here,” Milo confessed. “My mother said she’ll handle it if it progresses to something disastrous.”

“I’m surprised your mother is volunteering to help,” Aura pointed out as she looked at the Dark Fae. “She doesn’t like involving herself in mundane problems.”

“She owes Roberto her aid,” Milo confessed which was a bit surprising. “She also wishes to aid Willow. Despite Mother being rather…stubborn in appearance and action, she does not ignore when someone has aided one of our own. Willow was one of the reasons why I was pulled into a pack, which aided in stopping the potential risk of my wolf going feral. She was the reason why Malika is alive and not in the hands of the Coven being used for blackmail. The fact that I also have publicly made it clear I have the intentions of courting her only confirms that she’s of great importance to me, which also includes the rest of our kingdom. With all that, my mother wishes to support me by being of service,” Milo summarized.
