Page 206 of Wolf Domination

He glanced over his shoulder to simply glare at me, but he didn’t say anything more as he clearly led the way to what felt like some sort of castle.

I felt like we were most certainly still in NYC but where exactly was still a mystery to me.

There weren’t many castles in the busy city that focused more on business and plentiful amounts of skyscraper condos that supported the rich and dismissed the poor —the unfair circle of life.

We left through a back door, Beta Malachite holding it for me before he took the lead once more. At one point, he nodded in a certain direction. My eyes briefly followed where he’d been looking to see four men in black from head to toe fully loaded with protective gear and weapons like they were about to go to war.

From their scents, they were most certainly wolf shifters — hybrids to be exact — but I had no clue what specific pack they were from.

They certainly weren’t Father’s minions.

It wasn’t until we were deep in the forest and I was sure no one was around that I spoke out loud.

"Why are you helping me out?” I inquired. “I remember clearly that you hate me.”

“I don’t hate you.” I did sense the truth in those words as he followed with, “I just disliked you for the majority of your existence.”

I stopped in my tracks just to blankly stare at him.

“What?” he asked as he had no choice but to come to a stop and look back at me.

“How can you not ‘hate’ someone but ‘dislike’ them for the majority of their existence?” I questioned and put my hands on my hips. “It’s the same fucking thing unless this has something to do with my gender, which is a proper assumption to have when you live a life where having a vagina is a fucking sin in the world of power and dominance.”

He blinked a few times as if still trying to process my lumped paragraph, but I was already talking again and passing by him.

“Where are you going?”

“I’m irritated and want to kill you for fun,” I replied as I walked at a brisk pace, knowing he’d easily catch up to me.

“Meaning you need to run,” he concluded.

“The fact that you so easily understand me is rather annoying,” I pointed out. “Especially for someone who’s never around me, to begin with.”

“That’s not necessarily true,” he muttered more to himself as he’d already caught up to me and kept up with my pace.

"How so? You’re not pulling a Viktor and bodyguarding me for the majority of my existence,” I combated. “Which you disliked.”

“I wasn’t truly informed of your birthright,” he admitted. “At least, not until it became important.”

“Meaning you judged me like any other wolf in our pack and shifter community who despised the idea of a woman possibly taking on the Empire even though I worked my ass off since I was a little child to please my Papa Dearest by using my own magic to manipulate my body to be a male and carry a cock around.”

He kept walking but his eyes were on me for a hot minute.

“Down there changes too?”

“Surprised?” I countered.

“Hmph.” He clearly had nothing more to say.

“I’ll assume that’s a ‘no comment’ type of answer,” I replied and noticed our path was entering a massive clearing. “Wow. That’s a lot of field land. Who owns this place? Do you know how much this shit would cost? I bet every construction site would be begging to pay top dollars to the owner to claim this land so they can build a shit ton of condos and make billions. There has to be a law that protects this place from being sold or something.”

“There isn’t,” he commented as he watched me carefully. “Should I answer your question now or let you run for a bit?”

“Huh?” I paused at the edge of the clearing to look at him with confused eyes. “What you mean?”

“You needing air means you need to run pretty badly,” he summed up as he continued to observe me. “Your irritability has never shown to this extent.”

“How would you know?” I huffed back because I was annoyed that he’d even caught that. He was practically a stranger to me because he was at my Papa Dearest side.
