“I’ll just follow your scent,” I huffed. “Why are you leaving?”

“I’d like to enjoy my final packless moments drinking tea and watching Arthur speak gibberish,” he announced and began to walk away.

“Why do I feel like that’s an excuse?” I called out to him.

“Because it is,” he replied and his voice hummed in my head.“If I stay here any longer, you most certainly won’t be using that mouth to talk.”

The way I gawked in reply only invited that mellow, deep chuckle of his as he disappeared into the dense forest.

“Fucking hell. It has to be a sin to fall hard for someone like this.”

“It is if you’re gonna get a hard-on in my presence.”

I blinked and turned my head over my left shoulder to see Dimitris coming out of the forest. I didn’t know whether to be shocked that he was here or that he was shirtless and dripping in sweat.

“Either I’m hallucinating or I’ve found a shirtless Dimitris who was sweating buckets like he actually works out for a living.”

“Fuck you,” he countered but reached where I sat and dropped to the ground. "Instead of flirting with your new mate, you should be focusing on your pack.”

“Ya, ya,” I brushed off his attempt to belittle me. "Keep your hard cock in a knot just because you want to be sucked.”

“Bold fucker,” Dimitris grumbled and had his hands around my throat just to pull me close. “You’re lucky we’re busy today.”

“Or else?” I prompted and met his glaring gaze that was merely a façade to hide his obvious hunger.

“Or I’d fuck you until you got rid of that ballsy attitude.”

My smirk was priceless.

“You of all people know you ain’t getting rid of my attitude with a few thrusts of that cock of yours,” I teased and took my chance at kissing him brutally. “Amos’s cock’s bigger than yours.”

The way he glared at me in return had me laughing before I was up and offering my hand out to him.

“Thanks for coming to check on me,” I sincerely declared and purposely added, “Even though your ass was late. You’ve been slipping lately,Alpha.”

He rolled his eyes and slapped my hand away as he rose up on his own.

“Says the Beta who can’t even check on her pack when her Alpha’s slipping.”

“It’s hard balancing two packs,” I voiced as if I’d even been doing that. “Now I’ve gotta go do my Alpha duties and fuck some wolves up for daring to think they can overthrow me from Papa Dearest throne since he’s dead and shit.”

I couldn’t hide the hurt in my voice fast enough for him to notice, but instead of dwelling on it, he simply reached for my hand and held it tightly.

"Well, we’re coming with you so we’ll see how bold they really are with all of us present,” he summed up and tugged at my hand as he began to walk. “Let’s get back before the others wake up. Arthur's minor singing is a pain to listen to.”

“Why is he singing?” I pondered and followed, holding his hand as tightly as he held mine.

“He likes to sing while he cooks,” Dimitris declared. “Apparently it’s good therapy.”

“Right.” I came to a stop, which forced Dimitris to do the same as he glanced back at me.

“What?”

“Balancing is hard,” I muttered and didn’t realize I’d switched back to Willow until my eyes noticed the size difference in our joined hands. “I haven’t been giving him much attention. He’s bonded to me, too. I feel bad that we lack the intimacy I feel he’s craving just like the others.”

Pouting my lips, I expressed what came to my mind.

“Even though he’s gonna need time to recover from the trauma the Vile Queen inflicted on him, there’s no excuse for me being so busy that I’m unable to give him the attention he needs to heal. I’m his lifeline now…but I’m not giving him all of me, just like Amos, or Loki, and the rest of the men I’ve committed to these last few months.”
