Lifting my head to meet his analytical gaze, I tried to smile but I knew it didn’t reach my eyes.
“I suck at this.”
He stared at me for a long moment before he walked back just to pull me into a hug and kiss the top of my head.
“It gets easier,” he assured me as his free hand trailed down my back. “Hang in there a little longer, ‘kay?”
“Okay, Alpha,” I muttered into his chest as I let my eyes close for a moment.
He held me for a long time, and though I knew I’d have no choice but to face the music and go back to facing reality, I allowed myself to embrace this moment of comfort.
To be vulnerable again.
Despite my desire to lead, I already knew I’d miss being able to rely on Dimitris in this way.
