“Malachite said black doesn’t suit me.”

“Black suits you when you’re in the middle of the ring about to beat the shit out of people,” he tossed back and proceeded to kiss me in return. “But he has a point. This is way better on you.”

“He annoys me a bit.”

“How so?”

“He knows a lot about me, or I guess my behavioral traits, and it’s just a bit weird because we’ve only had a few interactions.”

“He’s been a Beta for a long time,” Jayce pointed out. “Sometimes things become rather natural. Also, despite you being a female, you do have similar traits to Roberto. He may have dealt with similar instances with him that he’s now dealing with you, and seeing as he has your best interest in mind, he’d rather ensure you’re physically, emotionally, and mentally balanced than stand there and let you suffer because you’re Alpha.”

“That’s true.”

“Feels weird to have a sidekick?” Jayce joked.

“That’s not Onyx stalking me?” I offered. “Ya. Weird as fuck.”

“He’s around,” Jayce assured me. “With Loki and Viktor. They’re in their hiding places like everyone else, but if you need them, they’ll show up when ready.”

“Good.” I felt better knowing they were around anyways. “I think I’m ready to tackle shit!”

“That’s our Rebel,” he praised and leaned over to kiss my neck. “You’re excited to kick some ass?”

“It’s been a hot minute,” I admitted but I wouldn’t deny the bubbling joy of potentially getting my fist in someone’s face today.

Particularly, Felicia’s face.

"Then let’s go remind some wolves who the fuck we are,” Jayce encouraged and took my hand in his.

With one more glance around the office, I nodded and followed his lead to the door.

It’s time to make you proud, Papa Dearest.

“Areyou guys a bunch of fucking cowards?!” Felicia’s voice boomed through the underground space, irritating my ears —and patience. "Y’all agreed to pull out of the pack yesterday after the news of Roberto’s death which is exactly why we gathered here and yet some of you are already wanting to chicken out?”

I blended far too perfectly in the crowd — my pink hair was currently white and cloaked with the hoodie outfit Malachite suggested I wear until it was “show time”.

I was leaning against the wall next to the bulky Beta. His cover was acting like one of the special guards who agreed to boycott my rulership.

His hair was currently red, which was such an odd color for him, but it was temporary like the rest of his armored disguise.

Everyone else was nearby, which meant they were upstairs on the main floor somewhere. I knew Jayce was somewhere in the crowd, blending in to be backup if we needed it, but this place reminded me of the underground cage ring because of how everything was set up.

Felicia was standing right in the middle of a platform with half-risen fences of black and red. It reminded me of those torture days that Onyx and I had to endure, only this was one of those places where multiple shifters were put in one spot and you fought until you were certainly the last one standing.

I really couldn’t wait to rain on her parade, especially with how desperate she looked to get her way upon that fenced platform.

“You don’t get whom we’re dealing with here,” a shifter spoke up. He had dusty brown hair and blue eyes, but he wasn’t recognizable.

Honestly, he looked like one of those individuals that were far too easy to forget.

“What are you trying to say? Do you truly believe Miss Willow who now has a new position to worry about gives a bloody shit about our pack?” Felicia countered. “Where is she since claiming her royal title, hmm?”

“Well, think about it. Her father just died,” another wolf spoke up, sounding a bit annoyed like he really didn’t want to be here.

His eyes were black and half open like he couldn’t wait to go back to sleep. The person next to him nudged him, which made his blonde ponytail move side to side.
