He was literally the same height and build as Malachite, so the fact that he didn’t make a single sound only confirmed he could kill someone so fast, they probably wouldn’t realize they were dead until they faced the Moon Goddess herself.

"So instead of doing my duty and killing you three for supporting a villainous bitch who’s apparently in custody or whatever, I’m gonna be the lovely referee and observe you three fight against those you offered to challenge,” Alpha Memphis announced as he let go of me to gesture to our side.

“Lorsan against Jayce. Distraught fucker against Beta Malachite. And Felicia was it?” He paused to further smirk as he lifted his head to ensure she knew he was looking down at her. “You’re up against Alpha De Luca over here.”

I was surprised by his confidence in me, especially when we’d just met. It was clear this man not only ensured his reputation was strong enough to leave one trembling with the mere mention of his name, but he carried the confidence and power to match. His aura was perfectly concealed, which told me if we got a glimpse of it, we could potentially die from a whisp of its power.

"Since we don’t have time to waste, at least I don’t, why don’t we make this simple? Three minutes. Whoever can’t stand up is deemed the loser and gets to enjoy the lovely prison cells of my Pack House where they’ll remain imprisoned until I’m in a good mood,” he summed up. “Or if I have some good pussy. Can’t ruin a man’s day when he’s enjoyed a good fucking.”

I smirked at that one as Malachite groaned.

“Always about fucking sex.”

“Admit you haven’t fucked someone in far too long,” Alpha Memphis countered. “Do you have cobwebs down there? I bet you need a massage to get the blood pumping back to that vital organ of yours.”

“Fuck you,” Malachite huffed, which clearly frightened people as they further moved away from the platform we were on.

“You only get away with saying that because we’re best buds.” Alpha Memphis laughed and looked to the opposing three who didn’t look as confident as they did before.

“Three minutes. Losers stay in my prison and not even the High Council Illuminati or whatever can save you from my endless wrath,” he stressed and enjoyed smiling devilishly at them. “Trust me when I say, whether your dead or alive, you’ll suffer in my clutches, so let’s see how strong you guys are, shall we?”

Returning his eyes to me, he offered his hand again.

“Glad to meet Roberto’s successor. I never understood his way of leadership, giving his pack members such freedom to defy him now that he’s six feet under, but maybe that will change and never happen to you, Alpha…”

“Willow Alundra Phoenix,” I introduced. “Formerly known as Willow De Luca.”

Lifting my hand to grip his, I fought every nerve in my body to arch my back at his touch — the pulse of power at the single touch making it hard to not tremble and cower to him.

Or go on my knees and beg to be his slave. What kind of power does this guy carry?

“Who?”I wasn’t expecting Neo’s voice in my mind as Alpha Memphis shook my hand a few times before letting go.

Alpha Memphis is present here in the underground and we’re about to face Felicia, Garfield, and some Lorsan douche.

“Wait. Alpha Memphis is there?!”I wasn’t expecting Neo’s shocked words to run through the pack bond, but they did and had Dimitris moving in to clearly do damage control before the others could even get a chance to comment.

“Keep your commentary to later. Willow has to concentrate,”he emphasized first to shut the others up.“Do not touch that man for long, Willow. He’s an Alpha alright, but he’s what some call a deadly incubus hybrid.”

Well shit…that makes a whole lot of sense.

“That only makes me want to come down there and make sure you’re still wearing clothes.”It was Nico’s voice that hummed through my mind and was giving total possessive vibes.

“She’s not naked,”Jayce chipped in.“We’re fine. We’re about to fight so we need to concentrate.”

“We?!”Saint chipped in.“We as in you?!”

“Jayce?”Dimitris's apprehensiveness was obvious.

“Don’t worry about me,”Jayce urged.“We’ll talk later.”

He pulled out of the connection and his eyes met mine, which encouraged me to do the same.

I could see he wasn’t going to back down from this, and deep within, I felt like this was his shot to prove he was ready to move forward.

I felt like the person who sat parallel to him on the runway had to be his previous mate, but would he be able to overcome the trauma triggered that day?

Will he be able to fight in this ring without freezing up?
