“I wouldn’t be looking for magic energies. I’d be looking for magic fingerprints.”

“Magic fingerprints,” I whispered.

“Magic fingerprints are embedded fingerprints that stay on a weapon for a longer period of time because of the number of uses by its owner. Someone who uses it once or twice doesn’t count,” Malachite revealed, which made my eyes literally widen like saucers as it really clicked in. “The pistol had to be the Vile Queen’s because no one else could manage to get a pistol that could handle the poisonous power of that bullet. The trigger also has to be pulled by someone with a similar or higher magic level than the host. The moment we compare both weapons, it’ll confirm the magic fingerprints are the same, which will prove the Vile Queen set Aurelia up and was the true culprit.”

“That makes perfect sense,” Amos praised.

“How will we prove that Aurelia wasn’t the one who experimented on Amos and I when we were kids?” That was the only thing they could try to use against us. “The weapons can buy us time, but they could still attempt to crucifer her based on her committing treason.”

“All you need is a Fae Seer,” Malachite brought up. “They can tap into one’s memories and someone else can sketch an image. Finding someone who has a strong enough connection with one of you to draw out the image will be tricky on short notice, but if the results are from a Fae Seer with a reputable rank in Faerie, the kingdoms have no choice but to take their word for it.”

“Neo can do it!” I stressed. “We’re royally bonded and he’s fast at painting. Would that work?”

Malachite bobbed his head. “It could.”

“There’s one problem,” Amos voiced and met my eyes that were really beginning to strain as I saw two of him. “Which I won’t have time to say now if Willow’s going to hold time any longer.”

“I…can,” I breathed. “Say it!”

“Finding the Fae Seer is no problem. There’s one that’s a part of my kingdom,” he said a bit faster, knowing we were really out of time. “The problem is that process will take three days in mundane time. It’ll take three hours in Faerie, but even that will be excruciatingly painful on the mind.”

“Can you handle it?” Malachite questioned.

“I can,” he assured us but looked my way. “It’s not me I’m worried about.”

“Worry about…yourself,” I panted and cursed. “I…seriously can’t hold this…”

I felt the threads beginning to snap, my hold beginning to slip away.

“Avoid the blade at all cost and make sure I’m in your line of view,” Malachite stressed. “Go with the flow after that.”

“And then we rush to Faerie,” Amos pressed. “I’ll mentally make them aware of my return with my new pack in tow.”

“Tell Milo…as well. So we can return Malika,” I brought up and watched Amos nod before I looked at Malachite one last time. “How…the fuck do you…know all of this?”

“I know a lot of things,” he assured me and dared to wink. “Now stop being a weak bitch and beat that Beta bitch until she sees no way out.”

“I ain’t a weak bit—”

Time clicked back in place, which left me cursing and rolling swiftly out of Felicia’s way to avoid the dagger that pierced the platform. Many gasped at the sight of the blade, but I zoned everything out.

My attention was solely on my opponent as I spun around just Felicia attempted to stab me from behind. All my senses spiked up, my fight-to-flight response matched with the anger that fumed from being called a “weak bitch” really pushing me into a state of “make this bitch feel this Alpha’s wrath” mood.

It was benefiting me as I not only managed to avoid every opportunity Felicia had to try to stab me with the blade, but I was landing blows on any vital point in her body that I could to compensate. One missed stab led to one punch at a viral organ.

Miss. Right eye. Miss. Left eye. Miss. Heart. Miss. Intestines. Miss. Left kidney. Miss. Right kidney.

I kept going and going, moving in such a blur that I couldn’t even keep track of my own moves. Everything moved fluidly, while my mind realized how important this match was. This wasn’t simply earning my Alpha role for my late Papa Dearest’s pack. Winning this fight could potentially save my Aurelia from death row and finally get the Vile Queen captured and killed after all these years.

This fight could finally reveal the true identity of the Vile Queen and why she had been so obsessed with me for all these years.

“Stay fucking still!” Felicia hissed, followed with a grunt as I missed her move to kick her in the gut.

“You dare make this a fight of fists and limbs,”I screamed and kicked her right in the chest with enough force that it literally sent her flying into the fence. She scrambled back onto her feet, watching me with wide eyes as she finally seemed to realize I’d been holding back big time.“Be a fucking Alpha and finish what you started, you weak ass bitch!”

“You want no fucking weapons?” she snapped. “FINE!”

Without a moment’s grace, she pivoted enough to send the blade right into her target — leaving everyone to gasp while I flinched at the sharp pain that nagged at my chest. I had to make a double take as I glanced down to my own chest, only to see the blade wasn’t there, which immediately sent my eyes to Malachite.
