“Sounds like a plan,” Ace agreed.

“Then let’s regroup and head to Faerie,” Auraleia encouraged, but King spoke up.

“One more thing,” he announced, and we looked at him and his comrades as they exchanged looks one moment and were bowing and placing their hands on their chests the next.

“W-Why?” I questioned with uncertainty as I looked down the line of kneeled men. They had no reason for bowing to us.

“Despite the fallout of your friendship, you’re still willing to push yourself to surpass your limits and even be targeted by unknown enemies in the name of aiding our woman,” Ace declared and lifted his head so we could see how emotionally moved he was. His eyes were growing glassier by the second.

“Aurelia is really important to us. She’s the light in our world that’s always filled with rejection, and she gives validation to so many who are outcasts and deemed misfits,” Ace continued. “Our community is trembling with fear about this execution, but to know you’re willing to help us really means a lot. More than words can describe.”

“We’ll be in debt for being privileged with your aid,” Zane continued. “So please know we’ll repay you and your pack for aiding us in saving the woman we cherish as our mate and Alpha of our misfit pack.”

I felt moved by their words, as did Milo and Auraleia, who slowly nodded in understanding.

“We’ll do everything we can to save Aurelia,”I whispered. “Let’s give this final mission our all and enter the new year with Aurelia safe and proven innocent to the community that does love her.”

Everyone nodded and we quickly bid our farewells before Milo and Auraleia held hands as they continued to hold me at the waist.

“The moment we reach the safe house, we’re porting right into Faerie. You’re going to be really queasy then or potentially faint since you two were pulled into Faerie unexpectedly, but I’m sure we can acquire some elixirs that will help give us all a boost before you undergo the memory retrieval process,” Milo quickly explained. “So hang in a little more.”

“We’ll be fine,” Aura assured him and looked at me. “Right, Willow?”

“Mhmm.” I forced myself to stand a little taller and look less fragile. No matter how tired or nauseous I was, this wasn't the time for it. We had to save one of our own from being slaughtered, so these temporary weaknesses were nothing. “Let’s head to Faerie and reveal the true identity of the Vile Queen.”

This was truly the beginning of the end…the end of a cycle.
