I couldn’t even soften my expression, which was blank of emotion, if I tried.

She pouted in return, and it was so fucking cute.

Her pink locks were long again in bountiful loose curls that hugged her heart-shaped face and emphasized her naked frame as she floated there in wonder.

“Sweet Flower…if you die…I’ll destroy everything. Absolutely everything. I won’t stop until everything fucking burns to the ground. Do you want that? Do you wish for me to seek vengeance?”

I shouldn’t be blackmailing her, but that was all I knew how to do.

In this state of darkness, I had to do whatever I could to get what I wanted, and I needed her. She was my life force, my oxygen that I yearned to breathe one more time into my burning lungs. I’d go fucking insane if I truly let her slip out of my grasp, and I’d stalk her to the gates of heaven even if I had to fight with every holy being just to get her back in my arms.

Just to feel her warmth once more.

She frowned at my statement as if she were trying to think of all those who would suffer from my wrath in the name of Willow De Luca. She was literally dead, her soul hovering between the land of the living and the stairs to ascension, and she worried about others.

She’s worried about those who mocked, belittled, and thought of her as trash. These foolish humans and shifters don’t deserve her mercy. All they deserve is pain. Suffering. Agony. To feel a pinch of the pain vibrating through my fucking soul.

Clearly, my attempt to persuade her through blackmail only had her pouting her lips angrily as she crossed her arms over her chest which made those perky breasts lift and look more perfect while her stubborn stance of defiance made me want to just fuck her.

That’s how much power this woman has over me, a fucking demonic entity who is facing her soul.

“Sweets.”Loki’s new purpose was to do damage control—oops—which may have been why he allowed his emotions to come to the surface. His gaze alone was filled with so much sadness that tears began to form in those eyes of iridescent beauty until they spilled down his cheeks.

I noticed the way Willow floated back to him, and she even tried to reach out and wipe away his tears, but her hand simply went through the god’s flesh, emphasizing that she no longer had a physical body that could touch another.

"Don’t let the Vile Queen win. Don’t let your enemies laugh at your death. I know…it’s peaceful, isn’t it?”

She slowly nodded at his words as her shoulders sank in defeat.

Her eyes peered down at her body, which encouraged me to follow and acknowledge how pale and sickly purple her lips were. Her flesh was becoming tinged with blue, and after such a drop, parts of her body were a mix of red, blue, and purple thanks to the frigid temperatures matched with the whiplash from the wind.

The longer we waited, the harder it would be for her to come back.

She needs to return now.

“You want more peaceful days, right, Sweets?”Her head lifted to witness Loki’s sad smile.“We’ll fight to give you those. We’ll start with Christmas. It’ll be a holiday with just us, but we can’t do that unless you come back to us, Willow. We need you…Your pack needs you.”

He was painting a vision that aligned with Willow’s desires—maybe even lined up with each of our own—while being vulnerable and allowing her to know just how much we needed her.

That we relied on her for strength just like any wolf within a pack who leaned on their Alpha.

My pack. My Forbidden Pack.

Dimitris, Neo, Saint, Jayce, Onyx, Milo, Viktor, and Loki.

My hopeful vision of a peaceful life with my pack.

Her thoughts hummed against the walls of my subconscious as she seemed to lean closer and closer to the idea of returning. I’d have to give Loki props for somehow managing to use his words to potentially convenience Willow out of the tempting invitation of dying.

It wasn't necessarily her fault.

When you were but a spirit, you forgot all the things that hindered you in this world. But she remembered each of us, although we were Forbidden sinners, which meant that we were a group of great importance in her life.

She loved us enough to give us a chance to obtain redemption for letting her down…

A pinch of relief filtered through me the moment she nodded to Loki and turned her attention back to me.

And dared to stick out her tongue.
