My whole body tensed at the gunshot that followed, leaving an eerie silence that emphasized the heavy thump to the floor.
My heart stopped—my entire being felt like it froze in that mere second—but it was the gurgles of someone struggling to gasp for breath that didn’t sound feminine.
Not in the slightest.
“Your blood is so tainted, even my blood magic is disgusted by it.”
The familiar voice of frightening authority gave me far too much relief as I could immediately envision who now stood in our presence.
“Sweetness, what have I said about trying to handle everything by yourself?”
“Nico,” Willow gasped. “Holy fucking shit. How did you guys get here?!”
“Milo and Loki.” The response came from Jayce and was followed by Dimitris. “Did that fucker shoot at you?”
"Ya,’ Willow breathed. “But before you get your possessive Alpha pureblood balls in a knot, Saint’s in trouble! So is Arthur!”
“Who the fuck is Arthur?” Onyx voiced before adding, “And who’s the fucker bleeding out in your lap next to Saint.”
“It’s I…Arthur…fucking…Sephtis…you…fuck. If I die…I want a refund.”
“Shit, Milo! Help!”
“Already working on it, Princess.”
“We’re helping him?” Loki sounded flabbergasted. “He’s the fucking enemy! He works for the Vile Queen.”
“I’m going to assume he has some importance if Willow’s urging for his survival,” Viktor announced.
“Arthur is Saint’s mate!” Willow disclosed, which left them all in a moment of silence.
“Shit,” Dimitris, Jayce, and Neo cursed.
“Didn’t I used to say Saint’s bisexuality surely had a hidden meaning to it?” Jayce noted while Dimitris grunted.
“Milo, stabilize him enough so he doesn’t die. Viktor, Jayce, Onyx, secure the area and make sure every fucker in white is knocked out and cuffed. Neo—”
“WAIT!”Willow snapped the Alpha command which clearly forced everyone else to freeze. “Saint’s gonna fucking explode with shadow energy if we don’t transfer it into the pack bond!”
“Why the pack bond?” Viktor asked.
“It’ll circulate the energy instead of letting it release into the atmosphere,” Willow quickly explained. “Releasing it will kill everyone here and any one of the Vatican can use the lingering energy to fill some Chalice of Sin with Saint’s energy which can be manipulated and used for, like, ever!”
So she wasn’t completely unconscious.
"He mentioned something about Loki but he’s not in the pack bond,” Willow elaborated. “He said this energy has to do with Saint’s soul.”
Loki cursed under his breath.
“Invite me into the pack,” he stated with urgency, which made everyone else gasp.
“W-Wait, hold on!” Willow countered. “I don’t want you just joining without a proper explanation.”
“You just gave me all I needed to know, Sweets,” Loki pressed. “The energy is part of Saint’s soul. If I’m not in the pack, there’s absolutely no way of me circulating the energy, clearing it of the destructive essence, and sending it back into Saint.”
There was a moment of silence as everyone seemed to register what he’d just explained.
“Only reaper wolves can do this and you have to be fucking experienced which means Onyx can’t do shit.”
