PIZZA AT THE CRACK OF DAWN

~DIMITRIS~

“At this rate, she will get pizza cheese all over her cleavage.”

The comment made me pause in typing out the lengthy response I was writing via text to one of the paranormal global leaders—the one that was currently pissing me off to no end.

Lifting my head slightly rewarded me with the sight of Willow still holding a slice of cheese pizza while dozing off at the large kitchen island.

A part of me expected to see one or two of the others at the massive marble piece while they worked on eating their own slices of pizza, but everyone else was gone, which left me with my Everlasting.

“You don’t remember ordering them to go wreck shit?”my wolf had to remind me because indeed, I had forgotten entirely, which only proved I needed some sleep.

Fuck. So much to do…

This wasn’t what any of us had planned for Christmas.

Frankly, I was sure all of NYC was having that same thought as many woke up to the sound of sirens and burning chaos throughout the city. I wasn’t surprised by how fast the blaze spread through the crowded space of plentiful brownstones and business buildings.

I guessed the government and world leaders never thought of what fire hazards would erupt through the city and how fast it would spread in comparison to forests or suburb life.

With nature, you could bend the elements to stop a wildfire in our world of magic, but when a building caught on fire, it only triggered explosions thanks to all the flammable items inside. All that did was make it far harder to simply chant a spell and drench the building with water.

Not our problem.

"Willow?” I decided to try to wake her up without moving, but our mate was literally knocked out while she held her slice of pizza like her life depended on it.

I bet she’s still hungry.

Deciding it was best to get her to bed, I lowered the phone onto the counter and silently slid off the stool. The rest of the island was filled with empty plates with a few half-eaten slices.

From a brief mental check, I knew Milo, Saint, and Arthur were currently sleeping. Neo and Onyx were checking on all our assets and ensuring Forbidden Enterprise was safe from the path of the flames.

Jayce was further empowering them by viewing all the city cameras and news channels, while Viktor and Loki were sweeping the underground to gather as much information as they could to benefit us as we prepared for our next move.

A week of rapture. Fuck, this sounds fun and exhausting.

I knew Saint’s intentions the moment he shifted into Dark Lord form, and despite the damages and potential loss of innocent life, I couldn’t make myself feel bad.

Why should I when the Vatican and whoever dared to empower them attempted to steal our precious packmate?

It was far more than that now.

She already had mate bonds with at least half of us—Neo, Onyx, Loki, Saint, and me. I wasn’t 100% sure with Jayce, which was understandable with his past and apprehension, but I did sense something brewing with Milo and Viktor.

Then there was this new temporary member, Arthur Sephtis.

I didn’t need to do my research to know exactly who he was.

The true son of Lucifer…

How such a surname seemed like mere tales written in hidden scriptures. I was sure the majority of paranormal shifters in this day and age knew nothing about Lucifer’s first son.

Everyone assumed Lucifer had plenty of “children” because he was obviously the Devil with the intention of plaguing the world with his sinful minions that would overturn humanity’s outlook on their Savior and Lord.

Little did they know that Lucifer didn’t give a shit about any of that. The Ruler of Hell accepted his role as the “villain” of the world for the peace of human sanity.

I was sure it sounded fucked up, but this “peace” was determined by the actions they committed upon this world since humans were judged far differently than paranormal creatures, who believed in their own gods and goddesses.
