Off?

“He struggled explaining it. He said maybe even Arthur could describe it better, but it was almost as if it weren’t Willa or William. That it was a haunting mix of both or maybe a new entity completely. Extremely powerful. Tainted. Dangerous. Actually, I think that wasn’t what was triggering his concern.”

What was?

“He said Rebel Flower almost took Christopher’s soul.”Okay. That was fucking important.“As in, was on the verge of sucking it out of his damn body to feast on it. Not sure if she even realized it was happening because he explained she was so consumed by the need to lay havoc on him, but he managed to pull her out of it with Arthur present. That’s as much as he could tell me before he passed out.”

Plenty of info that can be helpful in this case.

Maybe to some, it wasn’t as helpful in deciphering the problem at hand here, but if Willow had another entity brewing inside her that could extract the powers of her mates and use them against her enemies, then we had a dangerous weapon on our hands.

Wait…

“Do you get it now?”Jayce said, clearly sensing my resolve.“Willow was temporarily able to extract one of Saint’s strongest powers as a Dark Lord. We all know how dangerously powerful you have to be to even attempt such a move. You need experience and the gift to execute it. Even if one bought the gift from a dark fae in the underground for a hefty price, they would most likely fail at executing it. They wouldn’t have been on the verge of a successful retrieval.”

Do you think Saint believes she would have done it flawlessly without interference?

“There was not a single droplet of doubt in his expression when he revealed that to me. He wanted to tell you himself, but he was so tired. He was in Dark Lord form far too long and at some point was in full-fledged demon form. Not to mention he summoned Blacky to retrieve Willow and bring her to the cathedral.”

Blacky?

“Apparently Willa named Saint’s demon Blacky when he made an unexpected appearance when we were recovering from the avalanche incident.”

Got it.

“I believe the incantations that showed up on Willow’s legs and spread through her entire body have secretly been there for years. I’m gonna need some serious concentration time to really go through these files, but from my scan of everything, those experiments conducted were to essentially make Willow a magic weapon of mass destruction.”

My concern is why? Why would they risk using Willow? If they were so keen on making a weapon they would have control over, wouldn’t they use a witch of their own domain?

“You’re questioning why they didn’t use Aurelia, aren’t you?”

Doesn’t it make logical sense?

I had every right to question it because it simply wasn’t adding up in my tipsy state. Aurelia was the best candidate for magic manipulation, and with how they drilled into her mind that she was never enough, wouldn’t it have been a safe call to pull her into various experiments to further empower their side?

Doing such traitorous tactics on Willow seriously made no sense. She wouldn’t be a benefit to their side of the power play.

Unless…

“What if they don’t have complete control over Aurelia?”Jayce offered.“I’m not really sure, but what if they don’t have a certain jurisdiction or something over her? We know the Coven puts pressure on her because they insisted she’d be the next to take the chair on the High Council like all her ancestors, but what if we’re missing something? There has to be one thing Willow has that Aurelia doesn’t.

Royalty status.

“Hmm?”Jayce needed a moment to actually consider that.“Royalty. I mean…that’s technically true. I don’t know Aurelia’s background. Her parents perished when she was a child, but didn’t the Coven hate them anyway because of whom her mother married? Onyx mentioned that casually one time when we were at the club with Aurelia.”

Honestly, I wouldn’t discount such possibilities. When trying to move up in the hierarchy, you have to have trump cards. If they truly felt like Willow had a strong chance of committing actual suicide or being killed, doing such experiments with the hopes of the magic incantations reacting at death seems like a perfect strategy to get their puppet of power.

“You mean get the Vile Queen her puppet of power,”Jayce corrected.“The more I think about it, the more it makes sense. Also, if Willow’s death was the baseline to trigger this entity, which may not even have been Willa or William back then, do you think that’s the reason why she kidnapped Loki to begin with?”

Bingo.

The puzzle pieces were coming together.

Loki’s a reaper wolf. The Vile Queen knew Loki’s relation to Onyx, but unlike Onyx, who had no understanding of what he is as a shadow wolf from a royal family, Loki had already ascended into a reaper wolf who can instigate death and life.

“Loki also knows that Willow is royalty. He was assigned to protect her until he was kidnapped. Not 100% sure on timelines, but what if it was around the same time that Dubai douche pushed Willow off the cliff?”

You’re suggesting all of that was planned by the Vile Queen and Coven way back then?
