“Princess, please! Don’t leave us like this.”

I spin around and slap Donnie as hard as I can, with tears blurring my eyes.

"Don't call me that. I am not your Princess anymore, if I ever truly was."

"Princess—"

I cut him off. "No. You don't get to call me that anymore, Donovan. You lied to me." I wipe my cheeks. "The worst part of this was that I actually fell for your lies. I fell for you. I guess the joke’s on me, huh?"

The tingling sensation feels like it is flowing through my body, begging to be let out. Alara said it was magic? And Jax mentioned it was controlled from emotions. They may have hurt me and deceived me, but I need to get away. I can't hurt them.

"Please Silver, don't!" Donovan yells, following me to the garden.

"No, I need to get out of here before I blow up this house!" I scream, then take off towards Elena's hidden room. I need answers and I just know her next journal has them.

The library is dark and empty at this hour. I move to the hidden staircase and see candles are lit, with the door wide open. I peek inside and sigh. “Why am I not surprised to see you here?”

Luke stands, holding a book in his hand. “I was going to bring this to you. Now that you know the truth, it’s time for you to get the answers I can guess you’re seeking.” He hands me the book and I just nod, turning and heading back up to the library. I plop in one of the comfy chairs and click the light on.

“What are you doing? Silver, you need to rest after that show of magic. You have to eat and sleep. Come, I’ll walk you home.” He moves closer and clicks the light off. I set the book on my lap and start to cry, exhausted.

“Just go, Luke,” I croak out. He grabs my arm, pulling me to his chest in a big hug. The book falls to the ground, but I don't care. I know I shouldn't be in this man's arms, but his comfort helps. The connection between us is still so intense. He lets me go and grabs the journal off the floor, offering me his hand.

“Come on, we can go to my house. I’ll make you some food.”

I nod and take his hand, letting him guide me. He’s right. I’m exhausted and starving. I guess he would know, since I’m new to this being a witch thing.

“They lied to me! How long have you known?” I ask Luke as he sits beside me on his couch. He hands me a water and leans back with a sigh.

“I have known for a very long time who you were and what you would become. I know they betrayed you, but it was a part of the rules. I’m sorry for my own deceit.” He looks to the beer in his hand, playing with the label.

“Were you serious about wanting to date me? Or was it all a part of the lie? You just wanted to be with me for what I’m supposedly going to become?”

He laughs loudly, startling me. “Silver, I am plenty powerful on my own. I do not need you, but I want you—if that makes any difference.”

I lean back and think on that for a moment. I do like Luke. We have crazy chemistry. Yeah, he also hid things, but he never outright hurt me. I lean forward and place my drink on the table, then take his hand, running my thumb over his knuckles.

“I don’t know what to expect from now on, but I would like to maybe explore what’s been brewing between us,” I say quietly, still looking at his hand, avoiding his gaze.

He leans over and raises my chin with his finger before softly pressing his lips to mine. Heat bursts between us, and I back away, panting. I can tell he’s also affected, from the fire swirling in his eyes.

He blinks a few times and clears his throat. “Wow. That's new.”

I nod and run my hand through my hair, then take a few more sips of water. Our connection has always been intense, but that was actually insane. My head starts to feel woozy and my eyes get heavy.

“Do you want to stay the night, Silver?” Luke asks and I nod.Why am I so sleepy all of a sudden?I go to stand and my legs shake, causing me to fall back to the couch. Is this a witchy thing?

I lean my head back and rest my eyes.I just need a momen...

LUKE

She is more than I ever imagined. A true Queen. Someone who can stand beside me and rule. Someone I would be proud to share my world, and life with. This may have started as a ploy for revenge, but Silver Forest has grown on me. I never expected to care for someone again, but I'm slowly falling into her trap.

I can't blame the others for falling in love with her. She's kind and sweet, with a devilish side. She's perfect. I watch as her eyes slowly close. I have a little surprise for her when she wakes up.

I gently lift her, cradling her in my arms. She nuzzles into my neck and I groan. I can't wait until I can finally claim her. Being with her these past months has been torture. That day in the forest took all my strength and willpower not to lie her on the ground and show her how a real man would fuck her. Or against a tree. I have had many fantasies since, with only my hand as company.

I arrive at my bedroom door and slide the key from my pocket, supporting her with one hand beneath her delicious ass. I unlock the padlock and turn the doorknob. My bedchamber is lit with candles, and the coolness of the stone walls causes her to shiver. Walking over to the four-poster bed that takes up one entire wall, I lay her down. I brush a few strands of hair from her face and kiss her pouty lips.

Before she wakes, I will move her to the chains I have conjured that await her. Then the real fun may begin. It's time Silver learns the truth, and accepts her fate.

"Sweet dreams, my little devil."
