CHAPTER 14

WELLSON

“Thanks, Snow. This really helped,” I say, taking another sip of the godawful, bitter ginger tea she made me. It’s the thought that counts, right? After finding a helpless Don trapped in the shower—which he is never living down—I distracted Silver by laying on her bed and having her read to me. Earlier at dinner, she had mentioned an amazing series about the fae world that I had never heard of.Shit! I hope she doesn't think my grilled cheese made me sick.

She sets the book down, and looks off at the wall. “My mama used to make it for me and Luna when we had an upset stomach. We were always sick at the same time; even had our tonsils removed at the same time. She said it was a twin thing. I know it tastes horrible, but it really does work.” She gives me a shy smile.

“Tell me more. Were you guys identical or fraternal?”

She laughs and takes a moment—I can tell she’s holding back her pain. I breathe in her emotions and feel an overwhelming sadness wash over me too. One of the downsides of my gift.

“We were identical, except for the eyes. She had a gorgeous blue hue, as opposed to my gray.”

I cut her off. “Silver. You have silver eyes. I guess you know how you got your name.” I shoot her a wink and she giggles.

“No, my mom actually named me Silver after the silver moon. She kinda had an obsession with the moon. Silver, Luna, Apollo.” She sits back and smiles sadly. “I miss them. Luna was thrilled to be coming here. You would have liked her.” She sighs, then lays down on her pillow, facing me. “What about you? Do you have any siblings?”

“I do. I have an annoying little shit of a brother. He’s thirteen, and thinks he knows everything.”

She smiles but smacks my arm lightly. “Be nice. He may be annoying, but don’t take it for granted. Things can happen so quickly—one day you could wake up and he might be gone,” she murmurs, wiping a tear from her cheek. “Apollo used to drive me bananas, but he was so sweet, and brilliant. I always thought he was destined for something greater than our small town. I guess now we’ll never know.”

A wave of grief hits me like a wrecking ball, making me clutch my chest and groan. I need to make this girl happy—she has so much sadness.

“Are you okay?” she asks me, concern flashing across her face.

I wave her off and smile. “Yeah. I’ll be fine. I think that tea gave me some heartburn,” I lie, and she pouts.

“Oh, I’m sorry. Can I help?” She leans in closer to me, running her hand down my chest. “How are you feeling otherwise?”

“Hot, really hot,” I blurt out, internally cringing.

She gives me a wolfish grin. "Do you have a fever?" she asks, brushing my forehead with her hand. I shake my head no. I'm at a total loss for words.Where did this vixen come from?

She slides her hand lower back to my chest again. “Then maybe you should take this off. Here, let me help," she offers, tugging on my T-shirt while biting her lip.So hot.

I lean down and take that lip between my teeth, gripping the back of her neck with my hand, pulling her closer. She hums, and tugs on my shirt again, pulling it up to my neck. I let her pull it over my head and chuck it on the floor, before claiming her mouth once more. I wrap her hair around my wrist and pull hard. She moans loudly into my mouth and nips my upper lip.

I move to push her flat on the bed, but she doesn’t like that. Flipping me onto my back, she straddles my thighs and pulls her own top off.So gorgeous.

My eyes trail from hers down the curve of her neck and across her body.Flawless—her skin is so smooth. I run my fingers over the little bars she has in her perky nipples and internally moan. Closing my eyes, I try to focus on calming down.

While my eyes are still closed, she leans over me and attacks my neck with her lips, leaving little nips down my jaw.Fuck it. I grab her hips hard with one hand, and yank her hair with the other, pulling her off me and opening my eyes.

She sits up and looks at me, leaving me breathless. I trail my fingers up from her hip and across her ribcage, reading the script she has tattooed—“The darker the night, the brighter the moon.”

“Wells,” she moans and wiggles.

“Patience, Snow.”

She shakes her head no and takes both my wrists in her hands, slamming them beside my head, not caring that doing this just yanked her own hair. I release the strands and lean back.Who knew Little Miss Snow was into this shit?

“Do you want me?” she whispers against my lips.

This girl has me speechless. All I can do is nod.

“Yeah? Then you’re going to lay here like a good little boy, aren't you Wellson?” she murmurs and I nod again.

Holy fuck, yes please!
