I start laughing again and he looks at me, confused.

“Now Iknowyou're kidding. Donovan can’t even stand to be in the same room as me. Good one Jax, you almost had me,” I say, still chuckling, and he shifts uncomfortably. Not laughing with me.

“Wait, you're serious? You like me… and Donovan… and you want to share me?”

I sit back and watch his eyes for any guilt, or lies. Nothing—all I see is heat and lust. What is happening?

“You really don’t see it, do you?” he asks.

Before I can answer, Jela returns with our drinks. Setting them down, she rushes away again.

I take a sip, just to have something to do with my hands, and moan. “Wow. That is phenomenal. I guess I have a new favorite place.”

“I agree. They have the best drinks here. Nice change of subject, by the way. It’s okay if you don’t like me like that, Silver—I won’t take offense. I just wanted you to know that Wells isn’t the only one who has feelings for you.” He takes another sip of his drink and we sit there in uncomfortable silence.

“I don’t really know how I feel. I’m barely keeping my head above water these days with my emotions and feelings,” I tell him.

He looks at me with sympathy and takes my hand.

“I can’t relate to exactly what you’re going through, but I did lose my mom a few years back. I can’t imagine losing my whole family. I won’t rush you, Silver. Just know that I’m here if you ever want to talk,” he says softly, while rubbing his thumb gently over my knuckles.

We’re quiet for a few more minutes, this time in a comfortable silence. I know he is just giving me time to think over what he proposed. It's preposterous, right? Then again, this may help me choose a husband.I set my drink down and lean forward a bit, saying quietly, “Now, let’s say I was curious about hanging out with all of you. How would that work?”

He freezes with his mug to his lips, eyes wide. He clears his throat and chokes out, “What?”

I roll my eyes and repeat myself, and he gives me a beaming smile.

“Things would pretty much be the same, but I would be taking you out on dates.” He moves to the chair closest to mine and leans in, rubbing his nose behind my ear and down, giving me a soft kiss under my jaw. A gasp slips out and he moves back to my ear to whisper, “And kissing you, making you moan and cry like Wellson did last night.”

I wiggle in my chair, squeezing my legs tighter together, feeling the wetness he’s creating between my thighs.

Someone clears their throat and he moves back. I look up, confused, and see Kaci standing there, pouting.

“Can I speak to you? Alone,” she tells him, before pointedly staring at me.

He shakes his head no. “Actually, Silver and I were just leaving.”

We were?

He stands and drops some cash on the table, then takes my hand, pulling me up from my chair. We walk back to his bike and I look over my shoulder. Ah, there's the evil glare I’m getting used to. I sigh and climb on behind him.

About fifteen minutes later, we’re pulling into a hidden garage by the cottage. I take my helmet off, shaking my hair out. I hand the helmet to Jax and he puts it in a little cubby with his.

I can't help the giggle that slips out. "What is with all the random cubbies around here?"

He laughs with me and shrugs, running his hand through his bedhead-styled hair.

"Wellson has a touch of OCD. He's getting better. He used to label everything."

Reaching forward to take his hand, I freeze. There’s that damn meowing again.

“Silver! Are you okay?” he shouts at me.

I snap back. “Yes. Why are you yelling?”

He stares at me like I’m crazy. “I’ve been saying your name for over five minutes now. You went into a trance or some shit. Scared the hell out of me.”

I sigh, taking his hand and letting him pull me off the bike. “I’m sorry, Jax. I’m okay. Promise. I must just be tired.”
