I spin to leave but he grabs my hand. “Silver, wait, I’m sorry. I honestly didn't mean that. That was weird; I just felt an overly possessive urge to keep you away from him. Please come sit down. I'm sorry.”

Wells comes over, with concern on his face. “Dude, what the fuck was that all about?”

Donnie takes a seat and rubs his head. “I really don’t know but now my head is all fuzzy.”

I take a step closer and examine him. He does look pale. “Maybe we should just go. Try for another night?” I ask, but he shakes his head no and looks at me with pleading eyes.

“Please Silver, let’s have a nice dinner, and toast your parents. I didn't mean to say such awful things to you.”

I look at him—really look at him—and see honesty shining back at me. I give him a small nod and take a seat across from him. I’m still a little upset, so some distance will be good.

Dinner is delicious. Donnie was right; the steak is amazing. I take my last bite and Jax leans over.

“I hope you saved room for dessert. Their cheesecake is to die for,” he says, giving me a wink. I open my mouth to answer, when someone storms through the door so hard it slams against the wall, making me jump and drop my fork.

“Sothisis why you blew me off tonight, Donovan?” Winnie screeches.

God, her voice... They should have named her Whiny.I snort at my inner thoughts and she turns her glare to me.

“Is something amusing to you, bitch?” she snaps, and I wave my hand.

“No Whiny, of course not. Please go on.” I lean forward to give her my full attention and she smirks.Uh oh. Wells snorts from next to me and I bite my lip to hide my smile.

Donnie stands from his seat. “What are you doing here, Win?” he snarls, moving closer.

"Well, Kaci and Hazel were at the spa and saw you come in, so they called me."

I groan and lean back in my chair. They're here too? Will this day ever end?

Speaking of the devil, Kaci storms in and plops down on Jax's lap. "Hi, baby." He shifts a bit, but doesn't remove her. I scrunch my nose and she smirks. I turn my attention to the conversation once more.

"You know we're not together anymore. Why would it matter if I was here without you?"

Winnie steps into him and snarls, "Because I’m your future wife!"

Rage fires within me and I stand up. "Excuse me?! What do you mean, his wife?"

She laughs and dismisses me. "Oh honey, you thought he was your future? Cute. You're nothing but a side piece. He would never want your Orphan Annie ass long-term."

Wow, yeah—not gonna lie, that hurt.I grab my purse from under my chair and walk to the door. Someone shouts out to me but I keep walking. When I reach the main restaurant, every eye is on me so I lower my head, walking quickly. Halfway across the room, I bump into someone, and pause. "I'm so sorry, excuse me please."

A giggle sounds, and I look up to see Hazel standing there with a smirk. She steps closer and lowers her voice. "Oh you will be sorry, whore."

Tears fill my eyes and I rush out of the restaurant toward the bathrooms in the lobby. Wells is not far behind me and pulls me to his chest.

"Let's get you home, Snow."

Home. For a minute I was starting to feel liketheywere my home. Now I know—I don't have one. I'm just a lost vagabond looking for a destination and purpose. I should have just perished with my family.

Then I wouldn't feel so alone.
