He brings a small flame to his palm and chuckles maniacally.Fuck he’s scary sometimes.

We climb out and find the hidden doorway in the stairs. Don mutters the incantation and a descending staircase appears in the middle. First time I saw this, I thought it was so cool. Now I hardly bat an eyelid.

We make our way down and toward the bottom, the guys hold back while I go on ahead. I texted Hazel to meet me here, and she happily agreed. We used to sneak down here to hook up, so I’m not surprised to find her naked on a bed she must have conjured.

I slam the door closed and keep my back to her. “Put your damn clothes on,” I mutter.

She hesitates but does as I asked. Once she's fully dressed, I spin and push her down on the bed by her neck. Her eyes flash with excitement and bile rises up my throat.

“If you wanted to rip my clothes off yourself, you only had to say so, baby,” she purrs, running her nails down my back.

I shiver—not in lust, but disgust. “I will never fuck you again, ‘baby,’” I say, mockingly. I tighten my grip on her throat and her eyes widen with fear. I can’t hold back the smirk on my lips.Ah, now she’s understanding.

The guys enter, and laugh when they see what I’m doing.

Arrow tsks. “Always impatient.” He comes around and binds Hazel’s hands with rope. I let her neck go and sit her further back on the bed, before binding her ankles as well. Donovan mutters a silencing incantation, so we can no longer hear her whimpers and pleas.

“When will Kaci be here?” I ask Arrow, and he checks his phone.

“Any minute now, but we don't need to restrain her. She already feels guilty about what happened. Or so she says.” He runs his hands through his messy hair and plops in a chair to wait.

Don is teasing Hazel with his finger flame, burning her a little as he moves along her legs and arms. I may have cringed at one point, but thebitch deserves it.Winnie is lucky we can’t find her, because I think Don may just kill her.

A knock on the door lets us know Kaci has arrived. I open it and she startles for a minute, but bows her head and enters. Arrow stands and pulls her toward a chair we have set up. She glances over to Hazel and her eyes go wide.

“You don’t need to do that to me. I’ll… I’ll tell you anything you want,” she stutters, panicking.

I laugh deeply and she jumps. “I know you’ll tell us what we want, because until the other night, I always thought you were a good girl. Sweet, kind, just a little obsessed with my boy here.” I gesture to Arrow and she starts to cry.

“Please Wellson, I’m so sorry. I knew it was wrong. I tried to change the plan, but Winnie and Hazel wouldn’t let me. They scare me,” she says in a whisper.

I snort and shake my head. “If that was the case, then why drug Arrow, bind his magic, and try to molest his face?” I ask.

She looks up at me with watery eyes and frowns. “I love him. I just wanted one more chance to prove to him I was the one. When he turned me down again”—she pauses and wipes her nose on the back of her hand—“when he pushed me away, I knew my time was over. I raced after him to tell him about Silver, but I couldn't find him anywhere.”

I think back to Arrow demanding we hide him.Okay, that part checks out but what about the drugs?

“Why didn’t you tell us?” Donovan snaps, making her squeak. She looks anywhere but at him. Holding her hands together, playing with her fingers, she peeks up under her lashes, fear filling her eyes.

“You scare me,” she whispers so softly I almost don’t hear her.

Don bursts out laughing and she jumps like a scared little mouse about to get eaten by the big bad wolf. He moves back to Hazel and I look at Kaci once more.

“And the drugs?” I demand.

She looks Arrow’s way once more and sighs. “Winnie said we needed to make sure Arrow couldn’t predict what was about to happen. I was the only one who could get close enough to him.” She looks back down and whispers, “I really am sorry.”

I focus on her for a moment—guilt, fear, and sadness surround her like a cloud. I glance Don’s way. “She’s telling the truth.”

“Mmmm, okay. One down, one to go. My turn,” he says with a gleam in his eye.

Arrow walks over and takes Kaci’s arm, guiding her to the door as they talk softly. She leaves and Don removes the silencing spell from Hazel.

“I will murder youandthat bitch, Donovan Blake. You don’t know the things coming your way. I can’t wait to see it go down,” she screams in his face.

He mutters something and a shield forms around her.

Oh fuck!
