“Thank you. I was worried I’d need a map to find my way around,” I respond, my cheeks heating for what feels like the millionth time since I arrived. “My parents’ mansion in Malibu is about the same size, way more space than we probably need, but the view of the beach from my window is to die for.”

“Mansion?” Giulio stops suddenly, spinning around to lock eyes with me.

“Yea, my parents are loaded.” I cock my head to the side, examining his face, searching for the moment he decided I’m just a spoiled little rich girl and changing his mind about whatever this is forming between us. I know it’s coming; it always does. Everyone but the girls has always taken one look at me and saw money.

“So, you don’t have to worry about me stealing anything,” I mutter under my breath before I can catch myself.

I’ve never been someone to think before I speak, usually saying whatever comment pops into my head. Some people find it endearing, but most consider it a turn-off. Needing to know exactly what I’m thinking isn’t always on the top of someone’s wish list when they speak to me.

He chuckles softly before bringing my hands to his mouth and planting a kiss on the back of it. “This place is huge. I know. My grandparents bought it when they were around my age, filling it with children as soon as they were able. Most of the other buildings around the property are used for the winery and tasting areas.”

“This was your grandparents’ home?” I ask as he tugs on my arm and leads me up the stairs.

“Yes. My mother lived here until she married my dad.”

My eyes scan all the family photos and artwork lining the walls leading up the stairs. There are pictures of different people, all of them looking like Giulio.

“But you don’t have an Italian accent.”

“Because I spent most of my life living in Staten Island.”

I can catch hints of his New York accent bleeding through.

“Ah, that makes perfect sense,” I respond before crashing into something and tumbling backward.

I clamp my eyes shut, preparing to take a tumble down the stairs, but nothing happens. I peek through one of my eyes and see the look of pure terror reflected in his as he pulls me into his chest, causing us both to stumble backward.

“I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have stopped so suddenly,” he mumbles as he reaches his hand toward me, tucking a stray strand of hair behind my ear.

My heart rate picks up as small droplets of sweat form on my forehead. I bite my bottom lip, attempting to stifle the moan building in my throat from escaping my mouth.

“No need to apologize,” I squeak out as I inhale deeply.

His intoxicating scent envelops my senses. My nipples pebble, my body pressed flush against his. My skin heats and my core tightens as pure need flows through my body. Fuck, what happened to taking things slowly? If I’m not careful, we won’t even make it to our date. Just being near him is overwhelming. Add to it his perfect sun-kissed skin and muscular body, he’s the complete package. I need to put some space between us and give us both some time to think. I just hope that once Giulio has time to think about his feelings, he doesn’t change his mind.

“No problem. I should’ve been paying closer attention to where I was going,” I respond breathily, my chest rising and falling rapidly as I struggle to breathe.

“Where’s my room?” I blurt out, my tongue swiping across my bottom lip before pulling it between my teeth.

Giulio’s eyes focus on my lips before flicking back up to mine. “Right this way.”

I take a deep breath and wait a few moments before following behind him down the hall. I haven’t had this type of reaction to a man in… well, ever. I’ve had boyfriends. I’m not a prude, but none of them set me on fire like Giulio has with just one kiss. I have a feeling that when we sleep together, I’ll be ruined for any other man I encounter.

I barely register anything he’s saying as we make our way down the hall, nodding when it seems to be appropriate before we come to a stop in front of a door. “Here’s your room.”

I step inside and look around the room quickly. A large king-sized bed sits in the middle, pushed up against the west side wall with a wardrobe to the right of it. There is another door to the right, which I assume is a bathroom, but my eyes zero in on the view. The entire wall in front of me is windows, nestled directly about a window seat covered in plush, brightly colored pillows. It’s the perfect place to curl up and spend the entire day with a good book.

“It’s not the most extravagant room, but the view is amazing. We have others, but I wanted to keep you close.”

“Keep me close?” I squeak as Giulio wraps his arm around my waist, spinning me around and pinning my body to the door.

“My room is across the hall,” he growls, leaning forward and closing the gap between our lips.

My eyes drift closed as he brushes his lips against mine softly, and I gasp as the same tingling sensation courses through my body as before, causing moisture to pool in my panties.

“I’m sure you can do better than that,” I tease, not knowing where this newfound brazenness came from but enjoying it nonetheless.

He groans loudly before leaning in for another pass. My hand slides up before threading my fingers into the hair at the base of my neck. “Maya,” he groans, nibbling on my lower lip as I lean my head back and he slides his tongue deeper into my mouth. His hand trails down my leg, lifting it up slightly. I thrust my hips forward, grinding my pussy against his fly, wishing it were something else entirely, causing us both to groan in pleasure before a throat clears to my right.
