“Hey man, so I have to tell you something,” Allan starts.

“Okay, go for it.”

“Do you happen to know where Trixie is living now?”

This has me confused, why does he want to know that? “She’s staying with Lilly and Vinny as far as I know.”

“Fuck man, no she’s not. She was only staying there until herrealplace was ready to live in. She moved in today.”

“Well good for her, I’m glad she’s got a place. Makes it easier for me to talk to her and see her without Lilly and the rest of that group around.”

“No, man, this just made it ten times harder for you.”

“Just spit it the fuck out.” I’m losing patience on this. “What’s going on?”

“She’s living with Preston Thrane.”

I did not just hear him say that. Moved in. With him! How long have they been together? Has she been cheating on me? This can’t be. Why would she do that. Is that why she rushed me along on signing the papers? Fuck!

“I gotta go.” I hang up my phone and dial Trixie’s number. It takes four rings before it’s finally picked up. And sure enough, Office Twat answers her phone.

“Where’s Trix!” I shout.

“She’s in bed.”

“Then wake her the fuck up, I want to talk to her.”

“Yeah, that ain’t gonna happen, man.” The phone goes silent and I realize he hung up on me.

I throw my phone across the room and it shatters on the wall. “Fuck!” I bellow. This can not be happening. Fucking hell.

Chapter 24

Trixie

Iwasn’t quite sure if I should go on a date tonight with Preston, but he and the girls weren’t letting me back out. It didn’t take long to unpack my bags, considering Eden said it would be stupid to unpack everything when I would just have to haul it all into Preston’s room soon.

This is moving too fast, and I’m not sure I want to complain.

“Ready, beautiful?” Preston asks as he opens my door for me and sticks his hand out . I smile and grab it. He looks so handsome tonight. He’s wearing ripped jeans, skate shoes, and a ratty old tee-shirt, and his shaggy dark hair looks as if he just rolled out of bed. I kind of feel overdressed in my baby blue dress and black leggings.

The drive is short and there isn’t much time for conversation.

“What is this place?” I ask him.

“It’s just a bar all us cops frequent. They have great food, trust me, you won’t be disappointed. They’ll even make something that isn’t on the menu if you want it bad enough.”

“Well, I think I can believe that, I can smell the food already,” I say as we walk towards the building.

“Thrane!” People call out as we walk inside. I feel a bit awkward as Preston greets the room, I’m just standing here, fiddling with my purse strap.

“Everyone, you probably know Trixie, Trixie this is everyone.” I give a small wave and one of the guys clutches at his chest and comes up to me.

“You wouldn’t give me a chance, but you gave this loser one? Gee, how on earth did I miss a shot at the hottest girl in town?” I think his name is Patrick. I met him once when Chris and I started going through our problems last year, and I remember him asking me out. I laughed him off thinking he was joking. He’s cute, in that boy band sort of way, and it’s one of the reasons why I turned him down. He looked way too much like a Justin Bieber wannabe for my liking, and of course at that time I didn’t think my marriage would be over.

I giggle at him and Preston grabs him by the arm, looking pissed. “Stay away from her, she’s mine.”

“Dude, lay off, I was just joking.”
