I bound up the stairs to Melissa and Cori’s condo and pound on the door. Today is the day, this shit ends. It doesn’t take long before the door is open, and Melissa is standing there, glaring at me.

“What do you want now?” she snaps at me.

I shove her slightly back, so I can come in and shut her door. “This is done,” I state.

Her eyes widen.

“You and I are gonna clear our shit up, and then we’re moving on. Together. You and me, and our child. I don’t remember a thing that happened the night I finally had you. I wanted you since you were jailbait but couldn’t act on it. I was drunk as fuck that night, and I can’t apologize enough for what happened.” I don’t tell her I was actually drugged, because then I’d have to reveal more shit to her, and I can’t. “I want you, only you. I want this child we’ve created. And as soon as you can make it happen, I want to marry you. I never believed in that love at first sight shit, but I knew it with you.”

Her breathing is labored. “I’m sick of seeing you with other men, I’m sick of not having you as mine. Fuck. Melissa. I fucking love you.”

She closes her eyes and turns away from me. “I was only with those other guys because I wanted you, but you didn’t seem to care.”

I move in close, making her look at me. “Trust me, I care, too fucking much. I love you.”

“I love you too,” she whispers. There, done, this seals it. I kiss her, and this time, when I make love to her, I’m gonna remember every fucking moment of it.

Chapter 19

Melissa

After my night with Caden, I’ve seen him every day, and once a week Anara babysits for me, so we can go out for a date night. It’s perfect, almost too perfect. I tried not to fall for Caden, but he’s making it impossible, the way he is with Mikayla, how he treats me, the way he fucks me and the way he makes love to me. It’s everything I’ve ever wished for. He’s quickly becoming a permanent fixture in our everyday lives. I can see my daughter getting attached too.

Today he picked me up and dropped me off at a salon to get my hair and nails done. He said he wants to pamper me. That, because I am a single mom, he is sure I don’t take time out for myself and he wants to give that to me.So freaking sweet. I’ve never had a guy treat me like this before. Not even Dray was this sweet to me. It’s refreshing and unexpected coming from a badass outlaw.

Next stop after getting my hair done is a new dress and matching shoes.

I bought his favorite color, blue, along with some sexy matching undergarments.

Caden makes me feel sexy …wanted.

I smile all the time thanks to him.

I leave the shops feeling like I won the lottery and smile the whole way home.

As usual, Caden is right on time, and when I open the door to greet him, my breath rushes out. Holy hell, he’s hot. For once he’s not wearing his cut, a tee shirt and jeans. Well, the jeans are still there, but they're nice jeans, not a stain or a hole to be found. He has a nice black button-down shirt on, and his hair is pulled back neatly.

“Ready to go?” he asks, his voice gruff, as if he’s fighting the urge to shove me against the wall, so he can have his way with me. I have to say that sounds like a damn good idea right now.

I smile and push him back slightly, so I can get out the door and lock it. “Where are we going?” I ask as he leads me to the passenger side, opening the door for me.

When he gets in on his side, he finally tells me where we’re going. “Since we’re dressed up nice, I figured we could go to Italian by Night. It’s a newer place in town, best pasta I’ve ever eaten honestly.”

When we get to the restaurant, I notice a line that’s half way down the street. “Um, Caden, it looks like we could be waiting a long ass time.”

“Don’t worry about it. I made reservations. This place is hit or miss with walk ins, maybe three of those groups will get in tonight, but the rest for sure won’t.”

“Mr. Brennan, your table is ready. Follow me,” the hostess says as soon as we bypass everyone waiting in line. That’s odd, he didn’t even go up to her to give him his name. Maybe he just comes here a lot?

Once we’re seated and left to look over the menus, Caden puts his hand over mine. “Let me tonight?”

I raise my brows. “Okay, fine, just nothing with seafood remember, gag.” He laughs at my face and winks. Dad brought home some fish and lobster once, and Caden and a few other members of the club came over for a cookout. I’d never had fish or lobster before, although fish sticks don’t technically count. As I tried to take a bite, the smell alone smelled like a rotting vagina and the taste ... I will never forget it. So awful. Now anytime someone brings up eating seafood, I gag.

“So how did the hostess know you when you didn’t even check in yet?”

“Could be the fact that I was the reason this place looks as beautiful as it does,” he informs me as he throws his arms out wide.

“Oh, you mean you designed and built all this?” I ask, nodding to the tables and chairs the booths and even the bar area.
