Chapter 10

Dagan

Tristian meets me atthe front door, all our bags secure in the car. “You ready?” he asks.

I nod but hold up a finger for one moment. Raven comes racing down the stairs, practically breaking her neck in the process. “You better not have been leaving without saying goodbye.” She slams into me, my arms going around her back.

“Never.” Although we had already said our goodbyes earlier.

She moves away, eyes misting over, and gives me a soft kiss.

“Good luck Dagan. I hope your people will be kind when you give them the news.”

I smile at her. “I hope so too. I’ll be back by the end of the month, before you meet your next mate, this I vow.”

Ryder comes into entryway giving me a handshake. “Take care of her.”

“Always,” he replies.

With that I leave, so I don’t miss my flight. I decided travelling this time to endure flying so it doesn’t take so long getting to and from home. I dread telling my second about all that’s gone on because he’s not a fan of witches, not since a coven killed his family about four hundred years ago.

Chapter 11

Raven

Apiece of my soulhas just left, and it shouldn’t hurt this badly, knowing he’ll be back. “It’s going to be okay; he’ll be back before you know it. You’ll be so busy you won’t have time to really miss him.” Ryder assures me.

“I hope so. Are you leaving any time soon?”

“Nope, this is now my home base I’ve already sent word to my people. I should hear back from them in a few days’ time.”

“That’s good, I wonder why Dagan couldn’t just send word instead.”
