Raven

“Ravenna, this is gettingridiculous, answer the damn phone.” I hang up and want to touch the damn thing into a wall. Ravenna has been MIA for over a month now. I don’t understand it, she never goes missing, fuck, what if something’s happened to her.

“Raven? Are you okay?” Lilith asks me as she comes into the study.

“No, I still can’t get in touch with Ravenna. I’m worried about her.”

Lilith’s jaw clenches. “I am too, even when Ravenna has taken off, she always at least answers her phone. She’s probably just enjoying life right now, not having to hide from you anymore.”

She’s not telling me something, but I let it go. “Maybe you’re right, but I just can’t shake this feeling something’s wrong.” Lilith might be used to Ravenna disappearing for long periods of time but I’m not. She’s been a constant in my life, even though she used magic to trick me and my family into thinking she was older than she was, I’m still worried.

“It’s not even just her, the shop, it’s falling apart. I just got a call that it was vandalized. And they can’t reach Ravenna either.”

“I’ll send Simo to see what’s going on with that.” Lilith looks to him and nods her head. He nods back and heads out of the room. Simo seems to always be everywhere, it’s somewhat of a trick of his, it kinda creeps me out.

“Are you ready to learn about your powers?” Lilith asks me.

“Yes, I haven’t had any accidents yet, but my skin has been buzzing all morning.”

“That’s normal. It means you’re ready. We’ll start simple and go from there.”

“Okay, give me some magic words.”

Lilith laughs. “No words are magic, only your intent. You can speak whatever language you wish to, to cast. Just something simple like ‘float’ will cause something to float if that’s your intent.”

I wrinkle my nose, that’s not nearly as fun as what I was thinking, hell, half the books I’ve read about witches, although fictional, were more fun than this.

WELL, THIS MORNINGwas a mess, now I’m just tired, hungry and wanting to see Ryder. Lilith had me practice until my hair hurt, which I didn’t think was possible. She finally called our practice to an end when I accidentally sprayed her with water, soaking her.

I head to my room to shower and change when my phone rings, looking down at it in my hand I smile. “Dagan.” I breathe.

“Raven.” He says back, sounding as if he’s smiling.

“I miss you already.”

“I too miss you, my mate. Things are going smoothly here I should be back to you by next week.”

My heart skips a beat in excitement. “I can’t wait. I hate being away from you.”

We fall into small talk about our day before hanging up. “My Queen.” Simo startles me, calling me from my door that I didn’t close in my excitement to hear from Dagan.

“Um, yeah?”

“King Ryder is waiting for you in the dining hall with your family and his guests.” I smile at him, giving him my acknowledgment.

“I’ll just be a few minutes; do you know what we’re having for supper?”

“I believe Lilith ordered fast food for tonight.” I smile, knowing she got it for me after I pouted about craving a Big Mac.

I quickly shower and dress and make my way towards the dining room.
