“Your wish.” He stands up from his seat and comes towards me, scooping me up into his arms and carries me off down the hall and up the stairs to my room.

Chapter 8

Ryder

Ihear giggling rushby the door of my room. The sound of it makes my gut clench knowing it’s my mate’s. She found Dagan and sounds to be okay. Good. But part of me wants to join them, knowing we’ve found our mate. It makes me wonder how he’s really doing with all this; knowing how shifters are territorial, I doubt he’s all too happy.

Sharing is a witch thing, but it’s not completely uncommon in the vampire world that we can have more than one mate. For a King though, that’s unheard of. My people might revolt if I don’t explain this to them carefully, luckily my mate is their Queen so it might go over better.

I think the issue will be more with the duds in our villages that will have the problem. Seeing as most of the ones who haven’t left in search of their own pairing have caused problems, wanting someone they can’t have.

Duds causing problems has always been a thing and I hate banishing them when they do. With so many humans out in the world as it is, I’m surprised at the number of duds still being born. Maybe with time Raven can help with that, once she learns her magic.

Pulling out my phone I call the only person I know that can help me. My sister. “Ryder, it’s four in the fucking morning, what the hell do you want?”

My sister, Rayla was banished before I became King, all because she found multiple mates instead of just one. I overturned her banishment the minute I could but she refused to come back into the fold.

“I need your advice.”

“Mine?” her voice squeaks out.

“Yes yours. I’m mated now, but it’s not just me.”

Her silence on the other line tells me I’ve shocked her into silence.

“She’s the new Queen, and all of us Kings are her mates,” I continue.

“Well fuck me. This is something. I knew you would be powerful and amazing, but I didn’t expect this. Why are you calling me about this anyways?”

“Because I don’t know how to share.”

She laughs. “Babe who is it?” I hear in the background. “Shh, just my brother.” I hear her say to one of her mates.

“Well, you’re gonna have to get over yourself first. Second, you can’t be getting jealous about this, it’s destiny. And the Goddess wouldn’t have given you a mate with three others if she didn’t think you couldn’t handle it.”

That’s true.
