"Afterwards, I'll sit there staring at my plate and wondering how the heck I got into this mess," I continued. I tried to suppress the grin that was trying to creep onto my lips, but my statement alone had betrayed me.

Dario saw through my attempt to set him off. His eyes darkened.

"Somehow I feel like this isn't about my family at all, micina."

"What then?" I asked innocently, curious to see what his answer would be.

As he rose from his chair, my heartbeat sped up again. He circled the table, came to a stop next to me, and raised his hand so that he could place it under my chin and force me to look him in the eye.

"It would seem that, after two weeks, your head is once again in the mood for more than just sleep and the daily grind."

I raised an eyebrow. "You think so?"

"I'm pretty sure, yes," he replied. "But if you're not sure, we can check."

My heart was beating so hard that I could feel it in my chest. I looked up at him, bit my lower lip, and waited to see what he would do next.

I already imagined hundreds of different scenarios. Dario was unpredictable in this respect, which increased the excitement even more. Not knowing how he'd react– how violently he'd react– put me in an anticipatory state every time.

In my mind I saw the scene that had taken place after we had left the tattoo studio again. Dario had pulled himself together until we had reached his car. Absolutely unexpected, I had then found myself on the hood, him between my legs.

Within seconds, my pants had given way to his crude attempts to rid me of all the clothes I was wearing as quickly as possible.

My panties had torn so brutally that the fabric had left a bruise on my hip. And then, when I had hardly been able to wait to feel his body on mine, without the annoying clothes in between, he had gone down on his knees and licked me until the stars in the sky above us had tripled in size.

All at once, my mouth was dry. Dario snickered. "I'd love to know what just went through your head. Drugs would have had the same effect on your eyes."

His thumb ran along my jaw until it reached my mouth, where it stroked my lips. I shook my head. "I will not tell you."

Cheeky. This answer was cheeky. For sure he would let me know what he thought of it and make sure that I regretted the decision.

He bent down toward me until his mouth was at my ear. "I wonder if you remember howtopolinaspanked you. Your skin was glowing so beautifully red and your reactions "

The pleasurable sound coming from Dario's throat sent goosebumps all over my body.

"You're a fucking sadist," I said, a little breathless.

Depending on which perspective you put it in, Dario was also a masochist. A psychopath. Absolutely insane.

But that's what made himhim, along with the attraction he had had for me since day one.

"I just like to see how your body reacts to pain and pleasure." Both sensations were close to each other, Dario had taught me impressively.

Dario

Iremembered very well the first dinner we had together after Flavia had moved in with us. Emilio had been good at feigning interest in her– but at the same time, he had betrayed himself repeatedly, as his reactions had been in stark contrast to what he usually said.

I slid my fingers over the dents in the table, which, besides the scar, were the only evidence that he had reached out with a fork to stab it through the tough flesh of my hand.

Interesting times when I thought back on them. But it was even more interesting to watch Gia among my siblings. She had seen them all before, but that couldn’t be compared to an evening like this.

My skepticism hadn't quite dissipated, especially because my sister was insanely bad at keeping her mouth shut. Gia would run away as soon as Carlotta unpacked her relationship tips and put me in a much worse light than how I had presented myself to Gia so far.

Like I didn't know there was a significantly better selection of men out there for a woman like Gia. I didn't need my sister to remind me of that. Constantly. Almost every time I saw her.

Instead of joining in the conversation, I preferred to observe the whole situation from the sidelines. I was also the only one already sitting at the table. From there, however, I had not only Gia in view but also everyone else.
