“Word to the wise,” Dr. Pan murmured. “The pastries are unbelievable. Don’t miss them.”

Naomi glanced over at the island and saw a tray of flaky croissants, glistening doughnuts, and fruit-studded danishes. Her mouth began to water instantly.

“Oh, I’m on it,” she said. “I’m ravenous.”

“Another good sign,” Dr. Pan said, giving her a big smile. “See you tomorrow?”

“See you then,” Naomi said as the front door closed behind Dr. Pan.

Naomi grabbed a mug and poured out coffee, then piled a plate with the delicious treats.

The coffee was fresh and hot, and she couldn’t help but wonder how Oberon had known when to start it.

She took a bite of a cherry-filled doughnut, and her eyes went back in her head as she moaned in appreciation.

“That good?” a deep voice asked from across the room.

She turned to find Gage, awake and apparently fresh from the shower.

His hair hung damp around his shoulders, and he wore a tight t-shirt and a pair of low-slung jeans. The way he filled it all out made her mouth water even more than the sweet treats.

“Really, really good,” she told him with her mouth full, too glad to see him to remember her manners.

“Hm, I’ll have to try one too,” he said striding over slowly.

“You can have a bite of mine,” she offered, holding out the doughnut.

“Are you sure?” he asked. “I take big bites.”

“I’m sure,” she told him.

He came so close that he was nearly touching her, then bent and ate her doughnut in one bite.

“Whoa,” she breathed. “Oh, but there’s just a little…”

“A little what?” he asked.

“Just, on the corner of your mouth,” she said.

He bent down further.

She went up on her toes in a fit of indulgence and licked the sweet cherry from his mouth.

“Mm,” he said. “I can tell why you like these.”

Then he was kissing her, tangling his hands in her hair, and pressing her to the counter so that she could feel how much he wanted her.

She was ready to take him, up on the counter, down on the floor, wherever he wanted her.

But he pulled back.

“Naomi,” he said gruffly. “There’s something we should talk about.”

Gage

Gage looked into the beautiful dark eyes of the woman he prayed would be his mate.
