I took a deliberate deep breath. ‘You need to be more spontaneous in love. There, I’ve said it.’ I smiled, and looked surprised, ‘I feel much better.’

I saw my three ‘judges’ smile a little. That’s good, it meant the delivery was fresh.

Callum took a sip of his imaginary coffee and then frowned at me.

‘What does that mean exactly?’

I waved my hands around and stood up. ‘You know, don’t analyse everything to death.’ Then I did a little jump and smiled. ‘Be a little more of a man in the moment.’

He looked confused and I rolled my eyes and put my hands on my hip.

‘Just fall in love for the sake of it. I mean you’re always so intense. You enter relationships because they look like they would make for a good partnership.’

‘I’m a lawyer!’

‘I’m just saying, it’s not working for you.’ I checked my notes, which I was allowed to do because we weren’t expected to learn all the lines.

‘When I met my guy,’ I sighed at the happy memory, ‘I was totally absorbed by him. I couldn’t relax until he called and I heard his voice. I couldn’t sleep for thinking of him. I ached to be with him. I was a wreck. And he was the same.’

Callum grimaced.‘Sounds awful.’

‘It does sound like a medical condition,’ I agreed, and the three ‘judges’ laughed.

I don’t know why I did it because it was risky, but I adlibbed that line. I just didn’t want to break the momentum of the moment by referring to my lines. I hoped it would work in my favour and I didn’t come across as being unable to follow a script.

‘Thank you, Catherine, we’ll be in touch with your agent,’ one of them said, and I thanked them for the opportunity, shook hands with Callum and made my stage exit.

Fingers crossed, I guess. But now I had something else to look forward to – a weekend away with one of the country’s most sought-after directors, and bachelors for that matter! And, a weekend on my moors. That afternoon, I read the validation I needed to enjoy my time with Edgar… confirmation that Heath’s treachery was in full swing.

Stage actor signs to new Ramirez film

By Bonny Hawkins

Award-winning director, Nadim Ramirez (Life Lessons, Cease to Exist, A Mirror Image) has signed up some of the country’s most exciting talent for his new drama,The Meaning of Nothing, including a surprise newcomer to the screen but not to acting – Heath Earnshaw.

You heard the rumours here first and we are happy to take the credit – awarded stage actor Heath Earnshaw will play the lead.

Ramirez has a reputation for creating edgy films and giving his actors plenty of rope – this should suit Earnshaw and bring out the best in the young actor.

Speaking with Earnshaw earlier today he toldEntertainment Weekly: ‘Nadim has forged a new direction in filmmaking with works that are unprecedented in style and delivery. In terms of discipline, we are on the same page. I love his vision and I think we are a good fit. I’m excited to take on this project.’

Earnshaw previously turned down a film offer from director Edgar Linton preferring to remain on the stage.

Nadim Ramirez was recently listed in the top five of the most important film directors of the decade, his storytelling style is quickly becoming a template for filmmakers.

The Meaning of Nothingis shrouded in secrecy as insiders tell us the script is unique.

We can’t wait for this piece of cinematic vision. Rehearsals start next month. Stay tuned for behind-the-scenes updates.

Chapter 20– Visiting Thrushcross Grange

It was glamorous and exciting to be sitting next to Edgar in his silver Mercedes convertible as we sped towards Thrushcross Grange in the early afternoon before the weekend began – he had given himself a Friday early mark. I could smell his cologne; I watched as he drove with confidence – his hand on the wheel adorned by his Armani designer dress watch costing more than I earned in a few years. Not to mention how good his ‘casual look’ actually looked on him – white linen shirt, cream pants and tanned boat shoes. Gorgeous, sophisticated and bed-worthy. I was pleased to be going ‘home’ for the weekend too. It was only four hours drive from London, but impossible for a daily commute.

I tried not to keep track of Heath’s movements but I still found myself searching for every bit of information I could find on him. While on my searches, I found nothing overtly sleazy about Edgar – phew! Sure, he had the usual bevvy of A-lister women hanging off him in photos, but only a few ‘official’ past relationships and no overt displays of sex. It made him even more attractive. And I liked the rumour mill about us, it was a buzz.
