I look over at my wife, and I realize we are standing in the same spot in the park where we first met. Where Prince jumped on her to eat her ice cream, and looking at her, I can honestly say she is even more beautiful today. Standing here beside me, the sun hitting her face, and she is glowing, but not only from the sun. Five months pregnant with our baby, her face glows from the inside out, and I mentally take photographs and try to burn this image of her into my brain.

The past six months since we arrived back from Sicily have been hectic to say the least. We stayed at my mother’s mansion for a few weeks until all our physical traumas healed before moving into my place. Frankie’s apartment is still furnished and available to us if we ever need a safe house, but there has been no reason to use it and for that I am glad.

We spent weeks talking through every detail with each other and our family. Shaun and Stephen were amazed at what we all went through and security remains tight for everyone. Jake has taken a few months off and gone to his cabin to decompress, but I know he and Dante have become close and remain friends, they talk often.

Since he has gone above and beyond for me and Frankie, I made a sizable donation to his building fund, as I know he is working hard renovating and extending his cabin. I can’t wait to see it when he is finished. I think he may be considering moving there more permanently.

Sebastian and his men returned to the United States from Sicily about three weeks after everything happened. I am pleased that Sebastian and I have become not only firm friends but confidants and we are close. As close as anyone can be to the most dangerous man in the country.

He has cleaned up a lot of his father’s illegal activity and is running many of his businesses legitimately now. He has been extremely successful. He still has a dark side, though. He has businesses that are illegal entities, where Frankie and I know he is unforgiving and relentless in pursuit of honor and tradition. Blood continues to be on his hands.

Although Frankie’s father was buried in Sicily, as a family, we held a memorial in New York for all their business associates. Frankie and I sat side by side with Sebastian. Frankie’s mother stayed in Sicily and now lives a relatively quiet life in mourning. Frankie and Sebastian don’t speak with her anymore; she has been cut out of their life completely.

Alf and Sofia still run the neighborhood bar and Frankie still works with them a few days a week, to help support them. They both recently had a vacation in Australia for two weeks, which we paid for so they could have a well-earned break. They climbed the Sydney Harbor bridge, walked through the Daintree Rainforest and swam in the reef.

Frankie, my brothers, and I managed the bar for them while they were gone and did a roaring trade. It was trending on Twitter and now Alf and Sofia have hired more staff to keep up with the increase in patronage. Something they enjoy now they don’t need to hide Frankie any longer.

As I stand here still looking at my queen, I reach out and rub her tummy, making her head turn with a smile that is as wide as a watermelon, and I grin with the extreme happiness I feel. Having her in my life has been the best decision I have ever made, along with the fact that we are creating a life. As King and Queen of Boston, I can’t wait to welcome our Princess and create a family of our own.
