The three boys look at me, waiting for me to continue. I wasn’t planning to say much, but now that I have started, I do want to tell them about her.

“Her name is Isabelle Connors, and she is from Washington D.C. We met at her father’s funeral a few weeks ago, and then I bumped into her in Hancock where she is on holiday at her late father’s cabin.” I let out a breath I didn't realize I was holding.

Shaun is already on his phone, searching her up, and blows out a whistle. Passing his cell to the other two, they flick through the Google images that came up with the search.

“Shit, she is hot!” Stephen says, and Shaun and Marco nod.

“She is,” I reply. “Hot as fuck.” I scrub my hands over my face, and the three boys laugh.

“Who would have thought, our man Jake has finally found the one,” Stephen says with glee.

The one? I never said she was the one, but he is right. She is. She is it for me, no question. Now I just have to figure out how we are going to be together, because a few weeks in Hancock is not enough for me.

The drive back was long, but I am now eating hot jam donuts at 4pm in my office, with Kelly and Beth, preparing for the Rothschild event in the morning. The event is all ready and everything looks to be on track for success.

Kelly has taken the lead on this one and has everything organized. I take a look over the financials, ensuring that we are under budget, and I am pleased to see we are. The sponsors we have on board are amazing, and I know that the money we raise from this gala is going to be the largest amount ever raised in D.C. I am sure of it, and I couldn’t be prouder of my team and this little business that I created.

I sigh as I flick through the paperwork, and I can see both Beth and Kelly looking at each other in my peripheral vision.

I look up at them both. “What?” I ask them.

“You’re different,” Kelly says tactfully.

“How so?” I ask, sitting back in my chair, exhausted from the early morning and long drive.

“You seem relaxed,” Beth states, and I nod, because I guess I am.

“A restful break in a small country town will do that,” I say, and I think of Jake, a small smile coming to my lips.

“What is that?” Beth blurts out.

“What?” I ask her.

“That smirk. You never smirk. Why are you smirking?” Beth demands. I roll my eyes at her. She is crazy, but I love her.

“Of course, I smirk, everyone smirks,” I say as I start to blush a little because I can’t help feeling a little schoolgirl giddiness over Jake.

“Oh my God, you fucked funeral guy, didn't you?!” Kelly says, moving the paperwork to the side, and leaning in, chin in her hands, watching me intently, her eyes peeking over her black rimmed glasses.

“I... I..” I try to grab the words, but I can’t lie to them, they are my girls. I not so innocently shuffle the papers in front of me, trying to get a grasp on what I was doing before I started daydreaming about Jake.

“Spill it!” Beth demands, and I laugh. I can’t get away with anything with these two.

“There is nothing to say,” I say, laughing, and I can no longer hide the big shit-eating grin that has taken over my face.

“OMG! You fucked funeral guy!” Kelly exclaims in victory. Her eyes are wide, and she sits back in her chair in awe. Kelly has always been able to read me like a book. I can never hide anything from her.

“Maybe,” I tease them as I take a big bite of a donut to stop me talking any further.

“Spill it!” Beth demands again as she grabs the donut from my hand, putting it back on my desk so hard that the jam squirts out all over my desk.

“Shit, sorry,” she says as she grabs a tissue to wipe it clean. Beth is so amazing, but incredibly accident prone and is always making a mess of things. How she works in events amazes me every day, but she is an excellent team player and has such a kind heart.

“Fine! Yes, I fucked funeral guy! Jake, his name is Jake, and he is all muscle and looks after me, and is so goddamn sexy I cannot stop thinking about him,” I blurt out as we are patting up the jam. I am careful not to get it on the event paperwork.
