“First of all, Luke and I would like to thank my brother Nate and my beautiful new sister-in-law Amanda, for asking us to be a part of your special day. We’re so delighted you have found each other and wish you a lifetime of happiness together. Now, we’ve had a request from the newlyweds to play a few songs, so Nate and Amanda, this is for you.”

The guests applauded as we broke into our first song. I smiled over at Luke as the dance floor was flooded by friends and family. We did a few more requests before Luke and I handed the stage back to the DJ, and joined the others. Luke had me laughing and spinning around in circles for the rest of the evening.

When the last song was announced, Luke instinctively pulled me into him as the slow number began. We didn’t speak for a long while, and I took the opportunity to enjoy being close to him.

“So, how are we going to break this to my parents?” I sighed, looking up at him.

He smiled shamelessly. “I think they already know.”

Glancing over to where my parents were on the dance floor, I found their eyes on us, smiling proudly.

I buried my face into Luke’s chest in shock. “How do they know?”

“Well apart from the obvious fact I’m crazy about you,” he said. “I asked their permission.”

I crinkled my nose. “You asked my parents for permission to date me?”

Luke laughed. “Yeah, something like that.”

My eyes widened as I stared up at his sheepish grin. “Luke!” I gasped, feeling like my heart would explode.

His eyes glistened down at me. “I love you, Bluebird.”

I pulled on his loosened tie until his face was level with mine. “I love you too,” I whispered, and kissed him with everything I had.

Murmurs spread amongst the crowd and cameras started flashing. But I didn’t care. I wanted the world to know he was mine.
