“It’s fine, Blue, I don’t think I’m ready to deal with Nate’s lectures on dating his little sister just yet either.”

I smirked. “So, it is a date then?”

Luke grinned, uncrossed his arms and opened the car door for me. As I moved to get in, I lifted my eyes to find his face inches above mine.

The moonlight glistened in his eyes that were transfixed on the fog escaping my lips. My breathing wavered and I wondered if he would kiss me again. My heart raced as he leant in.

“Natalie!” My brother hollered, rushing out the front door.

Luke instinctively took a step back, and shoved his hands into his pockets. I slid into my driver’s seat.

“You forgot your phone,” Nate said, throwing it into my car, to save himself the extra steps. “How will you make those important phone calls?” He waltzed back into the house chuckling to himself.

Luke pushed the door shut behind me and I wound my window down to find him assessing my ride. I lifted my brows and waited for his judgement.

His gaze returned to mine, filled with amusement.

“What?”

He leant into my window. “Pretty flash car for a country girl.”

I laughed and pushed him away. “Don’t you start!”

Luke chuckled and stepped back from the car. “So, I’ll see you tomorrow?”

I nodded eagerly, and watched him stroll back to his house, hands in his pockets and a contented smile plastered across his face. I smiled in anticipation, and raced my heart all the way back to my motel room.
