I couldn’t help but smirk. “Sure it does.”

“Don’t knock it till you try it.” Breaking one off into his mouth, he let out a delighted moan and leant back in his chair. Wow. That was something.

I watched him chew, and found it strangely arousing. “Alright, give me one.”

Grayson held the necklace to his chest. “No way. You were going to throw them away.”

“Give me a little penis,” I insisted sternly, holding out my palm.

Suddenly the waitress was standing by our table, blinking rapidly. My cheeks burned and Grayson’s eyes grew large as he held on to his laughter. She took my order and moved her impatient gaze to Grayson. He looked over my shoulder at the neighbouring table and back to me quizzically, clearly unsure of what to do.

“Let me buy you a burger as a thank you,” I said, hoping he would stay. I felt much safer with him there, and his company was proving to be entertaining.

A look of surprise passed over his face.

“Come on, I have an expense card. Help me abuse it.” I grinned.

He chortled and shrugged indifferently, ordering the same as me. As the waitress walked away, Grayson handed back my necklace and I popped a tiny penis in my mouth. He was right. It was tasty.

“So…buck’s night?” I asked, intrigued to learn more about him.

He ran his hand through his already dishevelled hair and leant forward to close the gap between us. “How do you know I’m not a local?”

I smiled and pointed out the lipstick smear on his face. He rubbed his thumb over his cheek and scowled when the pink mark transferred onto it.

“Not your scene?” I asked, hopeful he wasn’t just like the men behind me.

He shook his head. “Nope.”

I glanced around the restaurant at the other patrons. “Yeah, me neither.”

“So, what’s with the fancy camera? I wouldn’t have thought anyone would want their last night of freedom recorded.”

I chuckled. “You’re right there. As soon as they pulled out the cocaine, I was sent on my way.”

Grayson frowned. “What? Your friends ditched you?”

“Oh no, it’s not like that, I’m actually here on a job. I was hired to document the ‘civilised’ part of the day. Like all the primping and pampering stuff. Not so much the debauchery.”

I handed the necklace back to him and he bit off another penis.

“So, you’re a photographer?” he asked, mid-chew.

I thought about it for a moment. “Partly. I don’t really know what I’m classified as anymore.”

“Is that what you want to be?”

He passed the necklace back and I slid the little penises up and down the elastic as I pondered my answer. “Yeah, I guess…one day.”

“Is that what you were doing outside?”

Heat rose up my neck. Dammit! He recognised me. “Yeah, you totally busted me. Normally people don’t notice what I’m doing.”

“I noticed you.”

Our eyes collided and I sucked in my breath. Argh. Connection. There it is. I shook off the unexpected flutter in my stomach. I have a boyfriend, for Christ’s sake. And as much as I’m unsure of my relationship with him, I’m not a cheater.

Clearing my throat, I lowered my gaze to where my camera bag lay beside me. “I like to take action photos. Unsuspecting people, moments, stuff like that.” I slipped the camera out and turned it on, flicking through the images I took just moments before. “Can I show you something?” I asked, meeting his curious gaze.
