Page 65 of Capturing Love

The next few days were a nightmare. Although nightmares required you to be asleep, and I hadn’t had any decent sleep in days.

I set three alarms each morning, and dragged myself out of bed every day to get to work on time. Thank god Adam hadn’t taken away the new coffee machine, because I wouldn’t have been able to face anyone without it, and would probably be in jail for murder by now.

My computer chimed with a new message, startling me awake.

A. MITCHELL: Wake up!

My heart was racing as I adjusted to my surroundings, which weren’t my bedroom.

J. SPENCER: Thank you.

A. MITCHELL: I’m guessing you’re not coming out for drinks tonight.

J. SPENCER: Not a chance. Bed is calling and I still need to go to the park to ‘capture some love’ *rolling eyes*

A. MITCHELL: We’ll miss you xox

I glanced at the time, but was too exhausted to be excited by the fact that it was 4:45pm on a Friday. All I could think about was my head hitting the pillow and not leaving it until Monday morning.

“Hey, Josie.” The voice in my doorway drew my tired gaze. Grayson stepped into my office rolling a small suitcase behind him. “Are you okay?”

“I’m just a little tired, that’s all,” I murmured, drawing in a shaky breath.

“A little tired? You look exhausted.”

I swallowed and began shutting down my computer.

His eyes narrowed. “What haven’t you told me?”

“Ask your brother,” I snapped, uncharacteristically.

Grayson pursed his lips before nodding and marched back out the door and down the hallway. Oh shit.

I winced as a muffled argument erupted behind Adam’s door. Shit, shit, shit. Grabbing my bag, I bolted for the elevator before either of them resurfaced.

I stirred awake the next morning after a twelve-hour sleep and smiled. It was Saturday…finally. As I wiped my eyes, I reached for my phone and gasped at the missed calls and messages.

Amy: Drinks aren’t the same without you. I’m bored. *sad face*

Grayson: 2 missed calls

Grayson: Please pick up.

Amy: Boss man is looking for you. So is Pete *rolling eyes*

Lenny: You didn’t pick up your pizza. All okay?

Grayson: I’m coming over.

My eyes grew large and I shot up in bed in a panic.

Grayson: On second thought, I’m guessing you’re asleep. Sweet dreams, Josie. I’ll talk to you on Monday.

I relaxed back into my pillows. Thank god.

The rest of the weekend consisted of napping and binge-watching Netflix, which would’ve been heaven if I hadn’t spent the entire time fretting about the week ahead. I deliberately left my laptop in the office, because I knew I’d end up catching up on work instead of a week’s worth of sleep.
