“I suspect so. We were both so reluctant to set a date, our families called an intervention and forced us to.”

“Oh. So you’re one of those couples with the epically long engagement?”

He chuckled. “Yeah, you could say that.”

I brought the camera back to my face and panned through the crowd, sensing Grayson watching me.

“So, what about you? Are you seeing anyone?”

I cleared my throat. “Um, yeah.”

Something flashed across his expression before he nodded. “And is he the one?”

I laughed without meaning to and covered my mouth in embarrassment.

Grayson’s eyes widened as a smirk formed on his lips. “I’ll take that as a hell no.”

I sighed, annoyed at myself. “He is…lovely. Super lovely.”

“But…?”

I dropped the camera back into its case. “Argh, I don’t know.”

“How long have you been together?”

I thought for a moment, trying to figure out just how long it had been. “Um, almost two years…I think.”

“Marriage on the cards?”

I breathed in deeply. “He keeps hinting at it.”

Grayson appeared entirely fascinated. “And you?”

“I keep changing the subject.”

“Right.” He chuckled, clearly amused. “Well, it looks like we both need to blow off a little steam tonight. What do you want to do first?”

“Well…” I pulled the torn napkin out of my pocket.

Grayson moved closer. “What’s that?”

“My to-do list,” I replied, straightening my posture. “I wrote it on the plane, hence the lack of real paper.”

He smirked and squinted down at the ratty napkin with great interest. “Only six things? That should be easy.”

“Five, actually,” I muttered, quickly folding it back up.

Grayson shrugged nonchalantly. “Alright, so what’s number one?”

I shook my head. “Number one isn’t possible. We’ll have to skip it.”

“Hang on, what is it?” He reached for my list, but I snatched it back.

“It doesn’t matter.” But it really did. I’d wanted to see the Grand Canyon my entire life and I was so damn close.

Grayson’s expression softened. “Well, what’s number two then?”

“The Bellagio Fountain.” I grinned.
