“I just need you to take her,” I ignore his comment and explain.

“What, like kidnap her?” Brax looks confused at the concept, which comes as a shock considering how many times he’s pulled that shit off.

“If that’s what you wanna call it, then yeah,” I shruglike it’s no big deal.

“What’s all this about?” he asks, Brax is used to fucking shit up, he’s an enforcer like Jessie who goes where he’s needed. He torturesand creates pain, and if he needs to, he kills.

“It’s about getting revenge, pride, and it’s about protecting the people we care about by eliminating the threat.”

“Oh, so this is Bastard shit?” Brax smiles darkly.

“This is a trade of promises between two very different people, and me upholding my word.”

“The others know about it?” Brax looks back at me suspiciously.

“They’ll know when they need to, but this happens tomorrow. I’ll have the details ready for you in the morning.”

“Wait, what about Sunday? I got the invite too,” he looks smug.

“There will be other Sunday’s. I’ll cover for ya,” I tell him shaking my head. I’ll deal with Ella, the two of us have grown closer than I could ever have imagined over the time we’vespent together, bonding over Dylan and me telling her more about Hayley.

“Why me?” Brax asks, looking puzzled.

“Because something tells me you know a little something about chasing revenge...” He stares back, refusing to confirm or deny my assumption. But I don’t need assurance, I see it in his eyes, it’s in the pain he creates. Hate is what keeps Brax Marshall's blood pumping.

“…And I need someone who ain’t gonna fuck up,” I add as he slides his ass off the stool and keeps his eyes focused on me. I don’t know who did him wrong in this world, but if they haven't already, they sure as shit are gonna regret it someday.

He looks me over for a while, like he’s considering my request, but his answer is exactly what I expected.

“Consider it done.” He nods, turning his back to leave.

“I gotta feeling this one’s gonna be trouble,” I warn before he reaches the door. “We can’t afford distractions. You’re the only person here I can guarantee ain’t gonna fall for the smart little bitch.” I tell him as he turns back around.

Brax winks, and toasts the bottle in his hand.

“Sounds like a challenge, Prez,”

The End
