I remember that word, it’s on Brax’s cut.

“You mean Brax?” Suddenly I’m very fucking interested in where this is going.

“He’s been here a while now so he’s been added to the grading.”

“The grading?”

“Yeah, honey, you got different levels of lay around here. Us girls grade ‘em for bragging rights.

First ya got Squealer and Tac, those boys are so easy they ain’t worth the game. Her eyes move over to the sofa where a bald guy, covered in tattoos is touching up one of the girls. “Next level is Troj and Thorne, hardly a challenge but they like you to work a little for it. Then there’s Screwy. He’s an odd one. Never got shit to say, but he’ll make sure you know when he wants to get down. He may not be as loud about it as his brother, but hell, can that man fuck a girl through a wall.”

“You were saying about Brax?” I try and move her on.

“Brax, he’s borderline Grimm level. He’s a once in a blue moon kinda lay. Too serious and focused on club shit to kick back like the others do. It’s rare you’ll get a shot with him. But I’d bet it would be one hell of a fucking night. Especially if he’s packing the same as his little brother.”

“You’ve… with Nyx?”

“Oh yeah. I’m a proud member of the B.E club.”

“B.E?”

“Before Ella,” she explains. “Just a little term us girls like to sling around. I’m also in the B.M…”

“Before Maddy,” I cut in.

“You got it. You catch on quick,” she laughs. Pouring out another fireball for me.

“We getting any service here, Mel?” Someone slams their hand on the bar and when I look up, I see an older, serious looking guy waiting on her response. He’s slightly greying, and like all the other men I’ve seen around here, handsome in his own unique style.

“Sorry, Thorne, I was just showing the new girl how things work around here.” She makes fast work of pouring him a neat scotch.

“Ain’t you Brax’s girl?” he narrows his eyes at me suspiciously.

“I’m no one's girl,” I respond, an idea on how to make Brax pay for his behavior instantly coming into my head.

“Welcome to the club, darlin’,” he holds up the tumbler that Mel passes him and toasts to me before he drinks. I immediately hop behind the bar, and prepare to listen to more of Mel’s instructions

The night continues, with no sign of Brax. I talk to Thorne some more as I serve him drinks. Turns out the man likes his scotch imported. Which figures, since he smokes expensive cigars and has a sophisticated vibe about him that the others are lacking.

I try and remember his name from Mel's grading list. But it appears he’s in the easy hit category since he’s been flirting with me for a few hours.

“So you gonna tell me what a pretty girl like you, is doin’ in a place like this?” he asks me, after Mel tells me I can take a break.

“Just kinda ended up here, I guess,” I shrug my shoulders and avoid eye contact.

“Ya got daddy issues?” He raises one of his eyebrows.

“No,” I shake my head and laugh nervously.

“Shame, it’s my specialty,” he smirks, causing me to lose control of the muscles in my face.

How the hell am I supposed to react to that?

“Who’s your friend?” The bald guy from the sofas steps up between us, still doing up his zipper as he nods to Mel. She sets straight to work fixing him a drink.

“I should get back to work.”

“Nah, stay right where you are,” he takes hold of my arm. “Entertainment is part of the job description and you look like you’d be good at it.”
