I stand still, waiting for his next move, and ignoring the jeers and complaints from the crowd. He’s expressionless and I watch him nervously as he unfolds his arms and rubs his lips together. His eyes close while he takes a breath and it reminds me that I should take one too. Thrill sparks at my core when he starts to march toward me, ignoring the heckles from the crowd as he steps up onto the stage.

The rules suddenly change, Grimm is touching me and no one is attempting to stop him. Security is nowhere to be seen as his hands wrap tightly around my waist, crushing my bones as he throws me up onto his shoulder.

“What the hell are you doing?” I scream over the music. My fists banging hard into his back.

“I’m taking you home,” he growls back at me, and I can hear all the tension in his tone. I feel it in his fingers, and instead of fighting against him, I let him take me.

She isn’t at the cabin, she isn’t with Maddy and she isn’t at Skid’s place either.

I can feel myself starting to panic because I have no idea where she is and no control over the situation.

Judging from the look on her face, what Rogue just saw upset her, and something in my gut tells me that Rogue upset, is a whole lot worse than Rogue mad. She could be anywhere, and knowing there might be people out there who would want to hurt her has my anxiety worked up into overload.

I rush back down to the club, checking the garage, and come up with nothing.

I even check the lounge bar, where only members are allowed just in case, but all I find is Tac, Thorne, Nyx, and Brax playing poker.

“You want in?” Brax asks, raising his eyes up from his hand. I shake my head, in any other circumstances I’d clean these fuckers up, but I have bigger things to worry about.

“Where’s Prez?” I ask, hearing the panic in my voice.

My phone starts ringing in my pocket, I can’t recall Rogue having my cell number, but still hope it might be her.

It fucking isn’t.

“Troj,” I answer, hoping to fuck this isn’t a clean-up they want me to deal with. I’ll never be able to think straight knowing she might be in danger.

“You’re looking out for Rogue, right?” he checks.

“Yeah,” I snap back.

“Then you should probably get down to the Orchid Lounge.”

The Orchid Lounge is a strip bar out at Fountain, the owner used to deal with the Bastards, but their numbers have dropped dramatically since their ex Prez got called out as a nonce. Nobody wants to work with them anymore.

Dirty Souls have been looking into expanding our territory so we can benefit from their misfortune, and Troj rode out there to make the owner our offer earlier tonight.

“I figure you got about twenty minutes before she goes out?”

“Goes out?” My stress levels reach boiling point.

I hang up the phone and check I still have the cage keys in my pocket, but they aren’t there. I must have taken them out earlier and left them at my cabin.

“Brax, give me the keys to your truck.” I hold out my hand in front of me. I haven’t got time to go back to my cabin.

“What you need my truck for now?”

“I haven’t got time for explaining, just give me the fuckin’ keys.”

He gives me that hard stare back, one that for most would end with pain. Then balancing his smoke between his lips, he stands up, digs his hand into his pocket, and tosses me his keys.

“Bitches, they get to us all eventually.” He shakes his head and smirks at his brother, Nyx, before sitting back down.

“Not me, you won’t catch…” I don’t hear what Tac has to say for himself ‘cause I’m already out in the foyer, the door slamming behind me.

I get in Brax’s truck and start up the engine, then with a screech of the tires, I speed out of the compound toward Fountain

Troj is waiting for me at the entrance and explaining to the big guy on the door that I’m with him.
