“You’ve knocked me up again.” She keeps her voice low, but her tone harsh, and I swear she’s gonna swing for him a second time.

“What?” Nyx’s eyes expand even more. “Ell, that’s awesome.” He pulls the dopiest smile I’ve ever seen on anyone with a dick, and it must be fake because he can’t seriously be happy about this fucking disaster.

When he reaches out his hand to pull her close, she shoves it away.

“Dylan isn’t even one yet.” Her eyes start to fill with tears, and Nyx reaches out for her again, and this time she doesn’t stop him. She lets him pull her against his body and take her head in his hands.

“You know this time’s gonna be different, right? I get to take care of you.” He kisses her forehead and his words seem to soften her a little.

“It’s just scary,” she admits. “I feel like I’m starting to get things right with Dylan and now this… You’re really happy about this?” she checks.

“Another little Carson running around and kicking up hell, what could be bad about it?” His thumb wipes her tears away and his boyish charm manages to draw a smile out of her.

“You’re right.” She snorts a little laugh, “I’ll leave it up to you to tell Daddy the good news.” She smiles at him sweetly before turning her back and heading back out. His wide smile and all the color in his face suddenly fades and after shooting Grimm and Troj a worried look, he quickly jumps off his stool.

“Hey, baby, wait up…” he chases after her.

Troj shakes his head and laughs, tapping his palm on the bar to summon one of the club sluts over. “Paige, get pouring, we got some celebrating to do.”

Suddenly we’re surrounded. Squealer, Screwy, Jessie, Maddy, and Brax’s girlfriend Grace all seem to appear out of nowhere.

Paige lays out the shot glasses and pours the bottle of bourbon straight across the top.

Everyone grabs one and Troj raises his long arm above us all.

“To Grimm and Rogue, the most fucked up couple in club history… Oh, and to Nyx’s balls, cause Prez is gonna have ‘em.”

I join in with the whoops and wails around us, clinking my glass against everyone else's, and when I look at Grimm, he’s staring at me like he’s in a different place to everyone else.

I smile at him, and he smiles back in a way that assures me he’s happy, and it warms my body before the bourbon even touches my lips. I don’t hold back, because I don’t have to anymore. Grimm just made me his. So I lean forward and kiss him like we’re alone in his cabin, not caring who sees or fearing his rejection.

Grimm stays by my side, and kudos to Maddy and Grace, who really go to an effort to make conversation with me. They even ask about cars.

Tonight, given the circumstances, I decide to tolerate them, and having a conversation without Maddy prying into my past turns out to almost be enjoyable.

Grace tells me all about the counseling course she’s doing, and the foundation she set up with her family's fortune to help the kids who have been affected by corporations like the Agency. And Maddy invites me over to her cabin for the girls’ night she’s having on Wednesday…

Brax arrives not long after and when he rests his arm on the bar, I immediately notice the blood on his knuckles. Grace goes to him, and he pushes her blonde hair behind her ear with his stained fingers, kissing her mouth like they’ve been parted for months before he gestures over to Grimm for a private word.

Doesn’t take a fucking genius to figure what that's gonna be about.

Grace comes back over with a huge smile on her face, and I watch Grimm nodding as he takes instruction from Brax. Shit looks kinda serious.

“Storm.” Grimm takes the box of bottles he’s about to top the fridge up with and hands them to Tommy.

“Me and you got somewhere to be.”

The look on Storm’s face proves he isn’t keen on the idea.

“I could come instead,” Tommy suggests, puffing out his chest.

“This is club business, grunt,” Grimm swipes back at him, and I notice the way it pisses Tommy off. Everyone around here treats him like shit after what his father did, the only reason he gets to stick around is because Skid sees the good in people.

“Take it you have to leave?” I shrug when Grimm comes to me a few minutes later.

“Yeah, you want me to give you a ride back up to the cabin?”

“I think I’m okay down here.” My words must surprise him because they surprise me. Strange as it is to admit it, I’m actually starting to feel comfortable around these people. There’s an unspoken trust between everyone and for the first time ever, I kinda feel like I’m a part of it.
