Page 49 of His Sacrifice

“So, what’s for breakfast?” I lean over and rub my palm over his jeans, we need a distraction. Something present to make us forget about the past and future.

“Don’t start something you can’t finish, Miss Lane. You're hungry, and you have an appointment.” I feel him harden beneath my hand and smirk back at him.

“Then you better feed me, sir.” I kiss his cheek before getting out of the car, and rushing toward the front door. I don’t get far, Raoul soon catches up to me, dragging me back and lifting me up onto his shoulder. A firm slap of his palm hits my ass as he carries me through the door and the sound of my giggles echoes through the hall as he marches us through to the living room.

“Nobody likes a tease,” he warns.

“Who said I was teasing?” I laugh again before I feel us come to an abrupt halt, my body slowly sliding down the front of his, and I notice how his face has turned serious.

“She doesn’t sound very Irish to me,” a female voice states, and I immediately spin around and notice the stunningly attractive girl perching on the edge of one of the couches.

“What the fuck are you doing here?” Raoul asks, his eyes narrowing in on the girl.

“That’s not much of a welcome is it? Surely you can do better than that.”

“I’m sorry, what’s going on here?” I ask, looking between the pair of them, confused and starting to panic.

“Evelyn, you remember my baby sister?” Raoul sighs.

“Violetta!” I stare back at the girl in shock. She couldn't have been any older than eight years old when I last saw her, and I quickly rush toward her to give her a hug.

“Well at least someone’s happy to see me.” She hugs me back before scowling at her brother.
