Page 62 of His Sacrifice

“I shouldn’t have gone tonight.” I squeeze my fingers around his hand. Ignoring the fact it’s covered in Fabian's blood.

“That wouldn’t be fair, you're not my prisoner.” He keeps his focus on our hands.

“So why did you show up?”

“I don’t like being away from you. I like having you close, and it seems I’m right not to trust anyone else with your safety,” he admits, his fingers playing with mine so gently it’s hard to believe the brutal attack they served just a few moments ago.

“Were you out here all night?”

“I can’t stop you having a good time because I have control issues.” He laughs at himself. “I know it’s creepy, but when things like that happen it proves me right, and since you told me what happened with that asshole your mother got with I… I just feel like I need to protect you.”

He finally looks at me and releases a sigh.

“I like that you want to take care of me. And I’m glad you showed up tonight.” I smile at him, offering some assurance before resting my head on his shoulder.

“What I feel for you isn’t normal.” His voice makes what he’s saying sound a lot like a warning. “It’s always been that way. You put this possessive anger inside me that I don’t know how to handle and I’m a bad enough man without it.”

“I love the person you are,” I admit, noticing how his fist clenches around my hand like the words hurt him.

“I told you not to fall in love with me,” he rasps back at me weakly.

“You were seventeen years too late. I’ve loved you ever since I can remember.” I laugh sadly.

He shifts in his seat so he’s resting on his knees in front of me and tugs at my hips, making sure they hang off the edge of the seat. His eyes stay focused on mine as he carefully peels my skirt up my body and lowers his head between my legs. Then his tongue flattens against my panties, licking me slowly through the lace. I grip his hair in my hands as his mouth causes tremors to spark through my core, and he applies the perfect pressure when his thumb starts to rub small circles against me.

Raoul takes his time, he gives me no orders, and he drives me wild with his expert tongue while he licks at my entrance and has me moaning out loud.

I forget the situation we’re in, I forget what just happened, I forget my name as I come mercilessly against his face.

He lifts his head away from me, pulling me off the seat onto his lap, and I feel my body trembling against him.

“Thank you.” He puts his mouth over mine, forcing me to taste myself as his hand fists in my hair and he holds me tight to his lips.

“Thank you? What for?” I manage to pull away.

“For feeling that way about me.” The sadness in his voice tugs at my heart and makes this whole situation seem even more devastating.

“I wish we had forever.” He pulls me back against him so I can’t look at him, and his words sting me so deep that I want to crawl out of my body. I’m selfish for wanting him to use all his power to fight for us and pick me over his family.

Not only is it selfish, but it’s unrealistic.

“Sorry, you had to leave in such a hurry last night.” Vi clears her throat, breaking the silence in the car as Niko pulls up at the airport the next morning. He gets out and starts getting her suitcases from the trunk while me and Raoul both get out of the car to see her through the terminal.

“It was nice to see you again.” She leans in and kisses my cheek.

“I guess the next time I see you it will be at the wedding,” she says awkwardly to Raoul, then looks at the floor when she realizes she’s being insensitive.

“Call me when you land.” He ignores her comment.

“I’m sorry if I caused any trouble yesterday. Father’s pretty pissed off about the scene you caused at the club and, well, I know I’m responsible for you being so angry,” she admits sheepishly.

“It’ll be fine, you just worry about finishing school,” he tells her, looking a little taken back when she launches at him and throws her arms around his neck. He hugs her back and adjusts his suit when she pulls away from him.

After waving her off through the terminal, we get into the car and head back to Raoul’s place.

“You have no appointments today,” he reminds me.
